Chapter 1; The Cruelty of Man

________________________________________________________________________________

Thunder rumbled and quivered the sky as lightning slashed and speared the Lands and Sea. Winds began screeching and whipping the Mortal Realm, people and structures alike, in utter fury.

The darkened skies cried in rage and despair as its Ruler wept as on this night he found what his elder brother has done. And what he has lost. But at the lost the Lord of Skies gained another. But by a decree made; and by himself no doubt. He was unable to shield and comfort.

With another yell of vexation the Ruler of Heaven's had the sky's roar depicting the mood the God was in perfectly. And through the blackened clouds spears of light continued to pierce the lands, the lowly world below the Realms of the Gods.

December 12th, 1887; Los Angeles, California. This still fairly new established Hospital especially heard this quaking fury that the almighty Ruler emitted. Though this justifiable rage was muffled. And it wasn't muffled for something small. Oh no, it was muffled by nothing less than a newborn's cry of life, its very first breath.

But what is more was the Mother. A beautiful woman, with lovely silky locks of ebony hair, skin the shade of cream and a pained look obscuring the normal tranquil sapphire gaze she held as she watched tiredly down at her only child before the loving and gentle embrace of her beloved's realm engulfed her.

As the Mother breathed out her last breath the child seemed to silent down. It was almost as if the little one knew. This child was now alone in the cruel existence called life. Alone and damned in this world. No one knows the Father of this infant. And the Mother's family is said to be deceased.

So as a final resort the hospital sent away this small child to the local orphanage. And for one reason or another the newborn's temporary caretakers felt relief fill them when no longer seeing the little one's form.

Lying down under the Earth's surface ruling the pits of Hell itself stood the Father who watched it all from the hellish flames.

And unconsciously a small tear formed and fell from his sadden face before all traces of that single tear vanished from the heat of the underworlds deadly flames. His child-his little girl, his first daughter was to grow up with no one. And he has no doubt she will grow up hating his existence.

All the while the Gods and Goddesses looked down from the Heavens sadly, a horrid mortal feeling settling into their hearts. An aching, an insufferable want to cry engulfed them all watching their fellow immortal and their innocent young niece/granddaughter have some of the worst experiences life can offer especially for a demigod.

Being not able to help your child when they truly need it, and being all alone in the cruel world where the unnatural have no true place in Mortal life, standards, and acceptance.

So in the Heavens they watched solemnly. And standing upon where the corpse strive, in the burning, dark depths of the Underworld he stays sealed with the dead. All watching as the young child- his child grows. Alone.

All he could hope for was that she did not receive that curse.

But that wish, that one wish and hope fell onto deaf ears. And the cruelty of mankind began.

Petite...

Small...

Frail...

Malnourished...

Fragile like porcelain...

That is what this little one is...the description one would say and think looking at the young child.

But there was more...

Her eyes held an eerie illumines, like royal rich blue flames.

Her long onyx hair that similar to a raven's feathery coat. So soft and hypnotic. Like velvet to the mere touch.

Her pale skin seemingly touched with the frosty enchantment of Death even with the warm crimson liquid lurking under that soft porcelain dermis.

The way this child, this girl just barely reaching her ninth year of life held herself...the aura she transmitted through her pores, by intention or not, was deathly, sickening, and terrifying but also peaceful and absolute.

It made you fear this innocent. Compelled you to hate her. Wishing to spite her existence within this plain of being.

Though really it was stupid. Why get on the bad side of the one you dearly fear? Well these utter dimwitted fools thought it to be better to have their fear, fear them.

Keep the fearful creature from becoming happy and strong.

But nothing seemed to work. She truly was quite a well behaved, shy, and a highly prospective child. She was smart. And it only made them fear more. A demon.

Yes, that's what this thing was.

No child, so beautiful, so pure should give off this cursed dread.

It was the only explanation.

This thing, so beautiful, kind, and intelligent could only be a demon in disguise.

It played the part of an angel. Quite so perfectly that it made them question their motives, the plan.

But then this dreadful feeling came back. And with it, fear and wishing to do their God right and rid of it from their lives fell onto them with full force. They couldn't stand this thing. The mere presence of it brought fear. And they refused it to go anywhere near the innocent and clueless children.

Gone. They needed it gone! But they couldn't damn an innocent and naive family or couple to take it in! No that was too cruel. But they couldn't bring it within themselves to simply kill it. So they merely needed to rid of it.

And they knew just the place. A place filled with orphans. And quite the crime rate that it wouldn't matter to the world if they found a seemingly frail, young child, a girl dead in one of the back alleyways.

Yes...that will do perfectly...
