Both Brandon and Harrison were kneeling next to me, whispering words that to be honest, I couldn't actually hear. "I... I'm okay... I think.." I mumbled. I was far too interested about why Brandon was standing in the same room as Harrison, to care that I had just blacked out. So I definitely wasn't expecting Brandon of all people, to be standing in a dressmaker's hotel room. I said as much to him, "Um Brandon, why are you standing in a dressmaker's apartment, in Majorca, because, no offence or anything, but the last time I saw you, we were in England."
"Oh, my mum is the dressmaker, and she's friends with your mum, and your Aunt Cassandra, and they invited me to come to the wedding too, and here I am!"Brandon said cheerfully. Then, he turned to Harrison. "Harrison, can we talk?" I held my breath, as Harrison nodded, but then he turned back to me.
"We're taking you back to your room first, though, Molly."
"Aww, can't I stay?" Hugging me, he answered, "Come on, Mol, you need to rest, after blacking out like that, and I can't stay, because I'm going to talk with Brandon."Like promised, Harrison and Brandon dropped me off at my room and then headed off somewhere to chat. Immediately I called Harriet. "Harriet! Hey! I have a favour to ask.."
"Shoot!"
"Can you spy on Harrison and Brandon? Yeah, it's low, but it's urgent!!"
"Okay, I'll go find them, and find out their conversation," Harriet sighed.
"You, Harriet, are the best," I exclaimed.
"So they tell me," she answered. Even though I was on the phone and couldn't see her face, I could tell she was grinning.
"Okay, thanks!Bye!"
"Bye my fellow soul sister," she joked, leaving me smiling, as I put my phone down.I thought about why I wanted to know what they were talking about, and then I questioned whether my conscience would thank me for it. Spying is still spying, right? It's still nosy, and low. When Harriet phoned me up, I blurted out, "No! Don't tell me what they said! I don't want to know! I trust Harrison -and Brandon for that matter- to tell me the truth!" Before Harriet could tell me anything, I put down the phone.
I looked up, and Harrison was coming round the corner. "Hey!" he said, enveloping me in a huge hug, "You do know that it was me on the phone just then, right?" he grinned, and I looked guiltily at him. "Busted!" he continued, and I laughed. "I knew you were intrigued about what you had to say, so I'll leave you to talk to Brandon in peace. He'll probably explain it better than me, but I'll catch up with you after your chat?" Pulling me in for another hug, he stood up.
"How?"I asked.
"How what?"
"How did you know that I was going curious about your conversation?"Harrison smiled, and he spoke, just as Brandon turned up to talk to me, "I knew because you're my best friend. If I didn't know those sorts of details, what sort of best friend would I be?"
As Brandon sat down next to me, I returned Harrison's grin, "Still a pretty awesome best friend," and then I turned to Brandon. "So," he said.
"So," I answered, looking straight at him.
"Okay, first of all, I don't have feelings for you any more, which is good, because you seem pretty certain that you liiike Harrison. And yes, I know that is the underestimation of the year, Molly. Harrison and I talked things out, and he is happy if we are anything from friends to best friends. Just not girlfriend and boyfriend, which is fine by me. I would love to be best friends with you, seeing as though you are a really nice person, and I would love to get back to our old friendship."
"Me too!" I replied.
"Okay, with that settled, I'm going to have a word with you about this date. First things first, and you won't be hearing this sentence coming out of my mouth very often, 'What's the gossip?!" he teased. Smiling, I began to explain.12th August
Today, I woke up with a huge smile on my face. I was going on my first date with Harrison and I had one of my best friends (Brandon) back! When I went down to breakfast, my mum informed Harrison and me that tomorrow, seeing as the clothes for the wedding were to be shipped over today, tomorrow, we would be fitted in our wedding clothes. Surprisingly, not even that deterred my happy mood!
My day was spent being constantly nagged by Harriet to explain the whole 'Going on a date' situation over and over again (which I did quite happily) and chatting to both Brandon and Harrison. Is this a new, calm Molly? Umm no! I was officially the biggest nervous wreck that somebody could be.
By the time it was 7:00 pm, I'd had about fifty 'pep talks' from both Brandon and Harriet, on how to go on a date. It made me smile how sweet they were, but neither of them had ever been on a date before, so we were all totally clueless.
"Nope. Nuh-uh." I shook my head at Harriet, as she held up a dress, "Do I want to look just slightly more than casual seeing as I'm going on my first date? Yes. Does this stretch as far as wearing a dress? No way!" Harriet smiled, and I grabbed a denim skirt, and a t-shirt. "Now this is my limit," I told my best friend, and she nodded in agreement. Perfect. Our conversation was interrupted by Brandon strolling into my room, "Hey Mol, Harriet!"
"Hi," I answered, grabbing my bag off my bed, and sliding on my sandals. Hugging Harriet, and Brandon, I left my room, with Brandon calling, "Go get 'em tiger!" behind me.
I met Harrison in the foyer, and we walked out of the hotel, his hand in mine. The sun was slowly setting as we strolled down into Cala Bona, and, there, we went down past the harbour, and towards the beach.
By the time we had arrived at the beach, the stars were beginning to come out above us, casting a flickering beam of hopeful light, down onto the sea. Waves rippled against nearby rocks, the sand was soft at touch, pale yellow and comfortingly silky. Harrison smiled, facing me in the darkness, "I really like you, Molly," his hand stayed in mine, and I stared out to the sea, at the inky black horizon, stretching out across the ocean.
Turning my gaze back to Harrison, I told him, "I really like you too." And that's when he kissed me.
You know when people shut their eyes when somebody kisses them? I shut my eyes - just not because I was enjoying the kiss. No, this sounds stupid, but I'm pretty sure that I must have looked pretty.. star-struck... So, to hide the humiliation of looking like a kid seeing chocolate for the first time, I shut my eyes. (Okay, this whole over- analysing a kiss, is getting pretty weird now..) Anyway, so that I don't start going all amazed again, let's just say, that the kiss was great!
After a few more minutes, reluctantly, we began to walk back to the hotel. Now, it was darker, and the streets of Cala Bona were alive with both locals and tourists. The pleasant smell of pizza drifted up the street, glasses clinked in bars, and bands from hotels began to play. A steady buzz of chatter filled the air, and families in their evening clothes drifted past, going for evening strolls.
When we got back to the hotel, I left Harrison with Brandon and headed over to where the evening entertainment was being held, in hope to find Harriet. Harriet was seemingly searching for me, because, as soon as I had ordered a drink, Harriet came up and squeezed me, dragging me over to a seat to talk dates, boys, and perfect nights. "Spill, sister!" she squealed excitedly.
Well aware that I was grinning like a maniac, I began to talk. Brandon interrupted me, coming up behind, and dragging a blushing Harrison behind him. "Molly, what have you done to this guy?!" I looked up at him, confused. "He's talking all this sappy.." Now it was Harrison, who was steadily blushing more crimson at every word Brandon was saying, interrupted, "Um yeah, Brandon's only.. joking.."
"Aww please?"I begged teasingly, "I wanna know what's being said about me!" Harrison rolled his eyes. Clearly this stuff was embarrassing... Which means that I had to know this stuff... "You don't want to know, "Brandon warned me, with a grin, "It will scar you for life."
I went to bed, with the same smile on my face, that I wore when I woke up with, just maybe slightly wider.
