Chapter 8

Rocky pov

I woke up to the sound a cannon, indicating a tribute just now has died. I looked at the watch i had and saw it was only 6:14 AM. I looked over at Everest and saw she too was woken up by the cannon. "Someone died?" She asked. I looked into the sky and saw a hovercraft pick up a body near by the pup park we were at.

"Apparently, they died near by the pup park." I told her as i got off the bed. I stretched and yawned as she did the same thing. "Wait, near the pup park?" She suddenly asked for some reason.

"Yeah, why?" I asked curiously. "Did you see who the pup was?" She asked again. I shook my head a no. "Because Skye told me she would go find more food in the morning!" Then we heard another cannon go off and saw the hovercraft pick up another pup in the same area.

"Did she say she would go with Chase?" I asked. She nodded, worriedly. "Let's go check, make sure they're still here." I said calmly. She gently nodded and we headed towards the door. We opened it and saw Rubble, Marshall, and Zuma. "Where's Chase and Skye?" I asked.

"They're still sleeping, why?" Marshall told us. I went towards there dorm as i said. "Just asking." I opened the door and saw Chase and Skye barely stretching. "See, Everest, they're safe and sound." I said as i she went inside.

"What's going on?" Skye asked. "We thought you two just died!" Everest said as the others came in. "Why would we be dead?" Chase asked. "Because Skye told me you two would be looking for food early in the morning." Everest replied.

Rubble's stomach suddenly growled. "Excuse me, but i'm hungry." He said, laughing. We did laugh too, but that was short lived, we heard a crash from downstairs. "What was that?" Zuma whispered. We all went inside the room and closed the door silently.

"Another Tribute." Marshall told him. We all hid in different spots, Chase and Skye went under the bed. Marshall went inside the closet. Me and Everest went inside the laundry basket, which was full of clothes so we can hide in. Rubble hid under the desk, and Zuma hid behind the shelf.

"Check in there." We heard a voice say. The door opened and i peaked a look, it was the guy from 2. "Hey Duke." We heard another voice say, belonging to a girl. Duke, the tribute who was in the room, turned around. "Never mind." She said. Duke went searching, before he closed the door. He looked in the closet and then closed it, i guess he didn't find Marshall.

Right as he was about to check in the laundry basket, someone came up behind him and stabbed his back, making him scream. When we saw who killed him, it was Zuma. "Zuma has killed a pup." He said as he took off the knife from Duke's back and Duke was still alive.

"They're comin'." Duke said. Zuma kept stabbing Duke repeatedly as he said. "Shut... Your... Mouth!" We sshhed him and he stopped. The cannon went off and then Zuma took the knife and told us. "Let's get out of here!" We all got off from our hiding spots and ran towards the upstairs.

"If i remember correctly." I said as we heard pups running towards the room we were just in. "There's a slide we can go down over in the top floor." We arrived there, and sure enough, we saw a slide.

"Let's go!" Chase said as he went down the slide. Together we went down and threw the glass we saw the careers see that Duke was on the floor, dead. We then were sent off into the grass and we ran to who knows where?!

"Where should we go?" Marshall asked. "Idk!" I shouted. We ran towards the woods and eventually found a barn.

"Here." I said as i ran towards it. We went inside and checked if we were being followed. "Phew that was close." Rubble said as his stomach growled. "Here, we should all eat something." Zuma said as he took out some bread equally cut it into 7s. "Thanks." We all said as we ate.

"Some apples for everyone." Chase said as he took out 7 apples. "How'd you find all these?" Everest asked. "I got some in the bloodbath, and off a dead tribute and found them as me and Skye went to look for food." He said.

"You two actually went?" Rubble asked as he ate his apple. "Well yeah, now we'll eat alright. Me and Skye, in total, have 30 apples all for us. A couple of squirrels too, a bird, some peaches, an orange, and some soup someone sponsored us." Chase added.

"Wow, we're going to eat like kings!" Marshall said excitedly. "Whoa, whoa, whoa, we have to make the food last man." I told him. "Yeah the food can quickly become low again." Skye added.

"She's wight." Zuma added. Marshall sighed and said. "I suppose."

"We should stay here, you know, hide from everyone else." Rubble said. We all agreed to stay here for now, inside the barn. I hope that we can remain alive.
