Shit. Gray knew he was in a ton of trouble when Erza had found the picture, but knowing that it had been posted on social media made it worse. His career that he had finally earned the chance to follow could be dashed in a matter of seconds.
"Mr. Fullbuster?" Gray looked up to a pink-haired woman. "Mr. Lockser will see you now." Gray got up, his appointment wasn't for another 15 minutes, but he wasn't gonna complain. He opened the door he was directed towards.
"Mr. Fullbuster, please, sit." The man gestured to a chair. Behind his desk was a picture of a beautiful blue-haired woman, holding a small child bearing a strong resemblance to her. The child looked oddly familiar.
"Sir, I-"
"I am aware of the picture, however I will keep it away from others." Gray was rather taken aback.
"Wha-" Suddenly, Gray realized who the child looked like, Juvia L-, wait, Lockser?
"My daughter has put in some words for you. I hear you are very talented. It would be a shame to waste such talent. I'm sure Juvia would have talent in something besides swim if she tried."
"She did?" He was surprised, he treated her like crap but she went this far to help him?
"Why so surprised? Juvia is very adamant about helping those she cares about." The man paused, "Now be on your way so I can do some paperwork."
"Thank you, sir."
"No need to thank me, thank my daughter."
The next day at school
There was much talk throughout the hallways, however the topic seemed to be about swimming. Gray figured it was some rumor, or perhaps an upcoming competition.
"Gray! Guess what?" He turned to the ever so bouncy blonde, followed closely by Natsu.
"Whaddya want?" Gray wouldn't mind throwing a couple punches at the pink-haired teen today.
"Juvia quit the swim team!" She paused, "They've officially lost their ace!" What? She quit? Was it because of him? He shook his head, no one would be that stupid to give up their dream. He certainly wasn't.
"M'kay."
"Aren't you excited? That means they might start recruiting! You're likely to be one of the first that they ask!" Lucy rambled on about how lucky he was until Natsu interrupted.
"Dude, wassup? You seem kinda out of it." He waved a hand in front of the skater's face.
"I'm fine," Gray glared, "I'm sticking with skating, thanks." He turned, planning to head to class.
"I can't believe she would quit!" Gray turned to the voices, finding the two Strauss sisters in deep conversation.
"Hey Lissana," the girl turned to Lucy in slight surprise. Gray would too, if he had heard someone call out so friendly after arguing with them almost everyday.
"Uh, hey Lucy." However, her eyes weren't on Lucy. Following her gaze, Gray realized that she was staring at Natsu and Lucy's clasped hands.
"Have you heard any updates about Juvia?" Lucy asked, her question aimed towards Mirajane.
"There is no way she would do it so willingly, it must've been part of an agreement." Gray startled, maybe his earlier hypothesis was correct. He frowned, she must be crazy if she would go through such lengths to help him with his own problems. This reminded him of the photo, quickly, he pulled Natsu aside.
"Who uploaded the goddamn picture?" He asked.
"What picture?" Natsu was as clueless as ever.
"Someone uploaded one from the party. With us, you know-"
"WHAT?" The pink-haired teen burst out.
"Be quiet!"
"Ima find that sucker and pound em through the walls." Gray sighed, so it wasn't him, who was it then?
"Why hello Gray, I see Miss. Lockser isn't with you today." He turned, coming face-to-face with a white-haired man he knew all too well.
"Lyon." He growled. The smirk on his face gave it all away.
"You've found your man, Natsu," he said, cracking his knuckles.
