Calum and I had been very close after that day. It was now exactly one week later, and Calum was once again stuck at my house. We were walking up the stairs to my room, hand in hand talking about things in school. Things had gotten better with Ashton and Michael. Ashton was still the same little nerd I loved and Mike was a dirty minded comedian that manged to make me laugh everyday, even when he was talking shit about me.

"Hey, Calum?" I asked quietly.

"Hmm?" he responded, just as quietly.

"How did you meet Michael and Ashton?" he furrowed his eyebrows and sighed, opening the door to my room for me and walking inside after me.

Cal closed the door before walking us both to the bed, sitting us down on it, knee to knee and thigh to thigh. He sighed once more before putting his hand on my thigh, moving his thumb in a soothing swiping motion. As comforting as the action was, it reminded me of Ashton and Michael at breakfast. The red haired boy's hand on my friends thigh, rubbing it, squeezing it, and caressing it softly. It made me feel possessive and sad.

"I was six when I met Michael at school. Neither of us ever moved from Sydney, so we stayed friends for quite awhile." Calum expression was solid, hard, and cold as he looked at me. I nodded a little bit to let him know I was listening.

"We met Ash last year, he was about to get a swirly in the washroom but, Michael yelled at the guys doing it and they all ran for the hills." my heart dropped, Ashton was bullied here?

"Soon after that, they started getting closer. Yeah, they, still paid attention to me, but it kinda felt like Ashton was stealing him from me." I looked at Calum with sad eyes, I knew exactly how that felt, all except the roles where switched. I felt like Michael was stealing Ashton from me. But, I loved Ashton. Wait... Did Calum love... Michael?

"Cal, do you..." I didn't know how to ask him this type of question. I didn't want to offend him if he was straight and I didn't want to embarrass him either.

"It's just hard, ya know? I- oh fu- sorry. I just can't believe I'm about to tell you this." I flinched at his almost swear word, smiling at him after to tell him it was okay.

"You can't tell anyone about this, not that I think you would." I nodded in acknowledgment to let him know I understood and I was listening.

"I'm all ears." I said softly. I moved my hand to his thigh and gave him a reassuring smile, locking eyes with him for just a second before he broke our gaze. He sighed once again.

"I've been in love with Michael... For years. He's too... Oblivious to see that I love him. When I see him and Ashton together, it hurts." His voice broke, his eyes were drowning in unshed tears. I turned to look directly at him, cupping his cheeks like my mother does to me when I'm sad, and made him look me in the eyes. His brown eyes weren't melted chocolate, or hard as stone. No, his eyes were broken and sad.

"Oh, Calum." I whispered. The Maori clenched his eyes shut, trying to stop the tears, but one still rolled down his soft cheek. I wiped it away with my thumb, moving my right hand and caressing his cheek with the back of my hand. He opened his eyes when I did that, his bandaged tan hands grabbing my pale ones in a gentle grasp.

"I'm sorry."he whispered, shakily. He then shook his head and removed my hands from his face, his eyes dulling the moment my touch went away.

"No, Calum. Don't apologize." I wrapped my arms around my friends waist, my head being buried in his chest in the process. I could hear his heartbeat, it was going so fast and beating so loud, I thought it was about to break out of his chest.

"Don't hug me."He aggressively whispered, pushing my body away from his with a harsh shove. My eyebrows furrowed as I looked into his eyes, begging for an explanation.
