I NEED HELP

Hey guys!

I need to ask my POC readers a question. As a writer, I aspire to have good content with a diverse audience and a diverse character sheet for my stories. However, as a white female, I have no clue how to write a character of another race; simply because I obviously don't know what it's like being in someone else's skin. I want my writing to be realistic and good, but I also want to make sure that I am not coming across as stereotypical, racist, uneducated, etc.

I am not trying to single anyone out (and if this post bothers you, please let me know so I can take it down and apologize), I just want to be able to write with more than just white characters. I've been googling things and doing research through books on Wattpad and through posts on Tumblr, and I've gotten a bit of information; but I still am lost and... well, to be honest, nervous.

The last thing I want is to make anyone, or any race, seem inferior in any way shape or form. I am educating myself, but if you don't mind, I would like it if you could help and explain to me what to do and what not to do when it comes to writing a POC. You don't have to. Likewise, you can dismiss this post altogether, but I would appreciate the help.

The reason I am asking is that in 'The Football Player,' Joe's ex-girlfriend, Sara, is a WOC and she is one of the main characters throughout the story. She is also one of the antagonists toward, and only toward, Mykie and her friends. She's not the only POC I have in there, but as I said, she is a main character. And I just want to be able to describe her features, as well as any POC character I have, without accidentally being offensive.

So, I guess in simpler terms: how do I describe a POC the right way? What should I avoid? What should I stick to?

If you can help me, I'd greatly appreciate it. And if you feel uncomfortable, please please please, let me know.
