TROYE'S P.O.V
My bags are packed and i am ready to go to playlist live 2012. Let's not consider the fact that I packed 1 week ago because I didnt think I could hold in my excitement for much longer without exploding.
I must say i'm not looking forward to the 4 hour flight from Perth to Sydney then the 19 hour flight from Sydney to Florida I will have to sit through. It's even worse that im alone.
But the flight will all be worth it once I get there. Meeting all my fans and fellow youtubers is like a dream come true. When I started youtube in 2007 I honestly didn't think I would be in the position I am in today. I was just a kid recording myself sing and posting it on a website I hardly knew anything about. I am so grateful to be where I am today.
"Troye!" My thoughts were interrupted by my mother Laurelle calling me from the kitchen. I grabbed my phone out from my pocket and checked the time. My eyes widened as I realised how lost I had gotten in my thoughts. I'm going to miss my flight if I don't hurry the fuck up!
I put my phone into my back pocket of my skinny jeans and ran down the hallway to the front door. As I passed through the lounge room I picked up my bag i'll be taking on the plane and slung it over my shoulder. When I got to the front door I was greeted by my mother leaning on the doorframe near my suitcases with a huge grin that went from ear-to-ear.
My Dad Shaun came running down the hallway and stopped behind me. "Ready to go?" I nodded my head in response and watched him pick up my suitcases and put them in the boot of the car.
I was caught off guard as Mum jumped onto me. She wrapped her arms tightly around my waist and rested her head on my chest. I didn't return the hug at first but after realising what she was doing I wrapped my arms around her neck. We stayed in that position for a while until she finally let go. I took a deep breath from what felt like an eternity of me not being able to breathe because of my mum's large, tight and engulfing hugs.
Dad walked back over from the car and stared at us both before motioning me towards the car. I couldn't take too long saying goodbye because we were late as it is.
I looked back at Mum and examined her face. I jumped back in shock as i noticed tears forming in her eyes. Why is she crying? Did I hurt her?
"Mum?! Are you okay?"
She nodded. "Yeah, i'm just so happy for you. You're growing up too quick for my liking." I gave her a reassuring smile. I honestly didn't know what to say. I'm not good at making people stop crying. Though to be honest i'm not good at any kind of social interaction and she was probably used to it by now.
I turned around to see my younger brother Tyde and younger sister Sage looking at us through our living room window. I smiled and waved at them. I was then greeted by Tyde's over-enthusiastic wave and Sage's kissy face. I couldn't help but giggle a bit.
"Where's Steele?" I asked Mum. Steele was my older brother who I rarely saw because he was either at univeristy, studying or hanging with friends. She shrugged her shoulders and my face fell with disappointment. I thought he would at least send a goodbye text or even better actually say goodbye in person!
Mum obviously noticed my reaction and started awkwardly patting me on the back. "Don't worry Troye, he is just always so busy with his education and things. He does care. He loves you so much."
I shrugged my shoulders and walked around the car to the passenger seat. As I was walking I noticed my dad slumped against the hood of the car impatiently waiting for me. Dad noticed me and breathed a sigh of relief. "Finally!" You take as long as your mother sometimes, i swear." I giggled at his reaction and got into the passenger seat. I placed my backpack at my feet on the floor and watched dad climb into the driver seat.
We pulled out of the driveway and headed to the airport. Dad turned the radio on and started singing along to this song that probably came out in the 70's. Usually I would complain and beg to change the station to something with more modern-day music but I was way to excited to care at the moment. Nothing could put me in a bad mood at this point.
The car ride took what felt like forever. I rushed through check-in and security pulling my dad along with me. "Last call for Gate 3 Perth to Sydney," I heard over the loud speaker. I'm not going to make it! I don't even know how to get to Gate 3. I looked at Dad hoping he knew where to go. He sighed. "Follow me."
We were sprinting through Perth airport until we finally arrived at gate 3. Relief washed over me as I stared at the gate. Dad reached for the pocket of his baggy jeans and pulled out his phone.
"What are you doing?" I rasied my eyebrow questioning his supspicious movement. He smirked and shouted, "Picture time!" I sighed the loudest sigh possible but didn't argue as I smiled and posed in front of the gate. Dad smirked even bigger and said proudly, "That will be going on Twitter for all the fangirls to see."
We were interrupted by a tall lady with black hair that was pulled into a bun tapping me on the shoulder. I jumped back in shock then noticed her hair had so much hairspray that it probably wouldn't even get ruined in a tornado.
"Hello sir, are you on this flight?"
I nodded and started walking towards the gate. I didn't get too far becuase my dad pulled me back and hugged me from behind. "Be safe," He whispered. I smiled at him and continued walking to my gate.
The same lady from before scanned my ticket and led me through the tunnel to the plane. I waved at my dad and he waved back. The moment didn't last for long because once we rounded the corner I couldn't see him anymore.
I walked down the aisle till i found my assigned seat. I noticed that I didn't have to sit next to a stranger for the first time in forever. I silently celebrated as I slipped into my spot right next to the window. My phone vibrated in my pocket which made me realise i'd forgotten to put it on aeroplane mode. I looked at the screen to see an unexpected text.
"From Steele Mellet: Have a fun time in Florida buddy ;) I'll miss you."
He actually remembered and took time out of his life to say bye. Sure he wasn't actually at the house to say goodbye in person but I still felt a tingle of happiness rush through me.
I put my phone on aeroplane mode, plugged in my headphones and started softly singing to Beyonce.
This is going to be a long 23 hours.
