{4} End Of The First Day

'Tae, are you ok?' I ask as he gets close enough to hear.

Sweat drips down his forehead as he suddenly embraces me.

His heavy breathing makes it difficult for him to reply with 'yes I'm ok...just tired...But I think some of the others...need help.'

He lets go of my body to allow me to see behind him. We watch as two men have there arms around two other men in order to help them walk.

'Someone help! Where is the doctor!' One of the men helping the struggling ones shouts.

'Here! Take them too the medical block, I will be there in just a second!' I point the directions and they head that way while I turn to face Taehyung.

'Sit down and get some food and water into you okay.' I say quickly before running off after seeing him nod.

'Please help them!' One of the men say as I run quickly entering the room.

The two struggling men are sat down on chairs, panting heavily and sweating profusely.

I turn to one of the well men and get him to bring some water for them both.

When he returns I use some of the water to dampen a small towel to place over their heads.

I had to get the other well man to do what I was doing to the other. He watched intently at my actions, copying them directly and did the best he could to try and help his friend.

It took 30 minutes for their body temperatures to fall back to normal and for there energy to regenerate with the food I had given them.

They really weren't ill at all, I guess they just panicked because of the small numbers of people meaning we can't afford to lose any.

I discharge them and send them to their rooms for further rest before Mr Kim enters with Taehyung behind.

Mr Kim speaks up as I clear away the work station. 'What happened? Are they ok?'

'They are fine just over heated and tired is all so I sent them to their rooms to rest.' I reply while Taehyung stands beside me with his hand on my waist.

'Good good, we really can't afford to lose lives so soon.' I nod and he continues. 'I'm so glad I have you two. My son you are so valuable to this operation and the hunter sector and Y/N, without you we would have no hope of survival. I'm also glad you are together to look after each other. It really gives me confidence about the future of humanity.'

I smile brightly for the first time in months. 'Thank you sir.' I reply bowing slightly. He smiles and goes off leaving me and my couple.

I let out a big sigh of relief that the day is almost over and Tae pulls me in to hug me tightly.

I close my eyes momentarily while I lean my heavy head's weight on his chest.

He chuckles lowly sending calming vibrations through my body.

'Sweetheart, I got some food for you and brought it up to our room. I figured you needed some quiet after a hectic first day.'

'I really do.' I say looking up to meet his gaze. 'Come on' he says as we begin to make our way up to the room.

I'm sat on our bed eating the heated pot noodle, that Tae managed to get me, while we make small talk about our day.

'So what made you all so tired?' I ask him as he watches closely to make sure I'm ok.

'We had to go around the north side of the city to collect any resources we could. We had to run in order to get back before dark and that really took a toll on us especially carrying all the equipment and food we found.'

'Gosh you must be really fit to do that.' I say taking in a large amount of noodles.

He looks down slightly flustered with a cute smile before I continued the conversation. 'Anything important happen today that I should know for the future?'

'Well, my father said that once we have collected resources from around the city we will have to move the whole group to a neighbouring city.

He said we will most likely have to sort out transportation which the engineer sector are working on.

They are reconstructing a train into an almost moving hotel where we will stay and in the end travel around the country in search of supplies and maybe find some other survivors.

It's all hypothetical at the moment until the engineers are finished but I just thought you should know.'

I reply with 'i thought that we would end up moving around a lot so I'm not really surprised. It's just crazy to think this is life now.'

He places his hand on my free one and slowly rubs circles, understanding the terrifying new life we have to live.

'Anyway how was your day?' He says curious about what happened in my sector.

'Well... there are only 3 of us. The other two know basic first aid, and one is a dentist.' He laughs understanding how unhelpful the people will be to me.

'I'm in the process of teaching them more advanced first aid for things which are more likely to come up. But other then that it wasn't too hectic'

Our conversation carries on until we hear a knock on the door.

Taehyung checks it out to find it was his father.

'Oh, father. Do you need something?' Taehyung asks as I come up beside him to see Mr Kim.

'Well, I need you to to come with me for a few minutes. It won't take long a promise, there are just a few things that must be sorted out.'

We follow Mr Kim towards an empty room that only contains a large table with chairs surrounding it.

We are told to sit, along with the few others there. After a few seconds Mr Kim speaks up.

'As you know, I have chosen you all to be the leaders of your work sector. With this role, you will also help make up the leading council which will help make decisions about our future.'

He goes on to explain what Taehyung has told me earlier about using a train to go from place to place in order to collect supplies.

Mr Kim then explain to each leader what their sector is supposed to be doing in order for us to achieve this.

My sector had nothing specific to do other then look after people when they need help but I couldn't help but feel sorry for Taehyung as his and the engineering sector were given a lot to do.

He squeezes my hand underneath the table as a way of seeking comfort from the stress of everything.

After a few minutes Mr Kim ends his dialect with 'and for now, in the case that I am not able to lead this civilisation then... the role will be passed to my son, Taehyung.'...
