“Connor? Connor? Where did you go? I can’t see you past her!” Tyson exclaimed pointing at me. Well if you can’t see past me how do you know Connor’s there, fucking idiot!

“Piss off Tyson,”

“What did you just say to me?”

“Piss off Tyson! What part of that did you not understand?”

Tyson strutted across the street. He got right up in Connor’s face, grabbing his collar. It looked quite funny as Tyson is shorter than and not as masculine as Connor. Tyson said, “Just because you’re the captain doesn’t mean you can treat me like crap. I will bring you down again but this time you won’t recover,”

“And just because you’re a player and are on the team doesn’t mean you can treat Gabriella like crap!”

Connor swung at Tyson. CRACK! His jaw was set at an unnatural angle. Tyson clicked it back into place and ran at Connor, punching him square in the chest. He gasped for air as he threw his fist at Tyson’s shoulder.  I slowly backed away, terrified, from behind Connor, who had brought Tyson to the ground.

“Now will you leave?” Tyson scrambled to his feet and fled. I had crept about five meters away from Connor, horror in my eyes. I thought he was the nice one. After helping me how could he do that to his own teammate! He is a dick but still! I need to leave. But he is the only one that won’t hurt me- or at least I think he won’t.

“Gabriella,”

I turned and limped as fast as I could towards home, turning around to find Connor hot on my tail. Shit! Why does my back have to start aching now?

“Please, leave me alone,” I pleaded.

“I won’t hurt you I promise,” He grabbed my wrist. It started to sting.

“Go… please,” I turned away from him, hiding the tears welling up in my eyes. Violence brought back so many bad memories; sad memories.

“Give me a chance to explain!” I slowly turned around to face the boy that helped me when I needed it most. “Just, hear me out!” I nodded and he continued, “The bastard took everything from me. My girlfriend, my reputation… just because I got team captain. That’s why I don’t sit at that table. I lost team captain too because he was sabotaging the team and making them believe that it was me. He spread awful rumours about me, saying that I was sleeping around, that I used drugs to get where I was on the team. I used to be the one that they’d pick on. That’s why I like you, Gabriella. You put up with those dickheads. I couldn’t tolerate them like you can. They knew I liked you and used it against me. I used to act like them just to get back the things I lost. I didn’t like being like them. Gabriella, please talk,” Poor guy.I can’t believe he used to be like me! Fuck those pig-headed bastards. The neighbours’ noises had disappeared. Connor let go of my wrist as I wrapped my thin arms around his waist. He wrapped his muscly arms around my shoulders. We stood in silence, taking in each other’s presence. I finally spoke up.
