Unexpected News

"You're My Home"

NOTE: So this one is a little longer and mostly from Mac's point of view. I know it took me a long time to post it, but if I'm being honest, I'm gonna take a while to post new chapters. Specially now that I have to write a project for my college thesis from home. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Mac's POV

I was packing my things to go home with Y/N, when Riley comes into the locker room with a confused and worried face.
"Hey, Riles. What's up?"

"Hey, um... Is everything okay with you and Y/N?"

"Yeah, why do you ask?" I was starting to get confused myself.

"Um... She was coming here to talk to you, but when I ran into her a couple minutes later, she just ran out crying"

"She came to see me in the locker room? Just now?"

"Seriously, dude? That's your takeaway?" She stared at me.

"No, it's just... Nevermind. Let me call her"
I try calling her three times, but it goes straight to voicemail.

"Voicemail?"

"Yeah" I frown

"Is she in danger?" Riley asks, thinking back to what had happened a few months ago.

"No, I don't think so. It goes to voicemail after two rings. She's ignoring my calls"

"What did you do, man?"

"Nothing! I think? Look, can you try to call her?" I beg her.

"Okay"

She calls Y/N and after one ring, she picks up.
"Hey, where are you? Are you okay?"
Riley talks to her for a while before hanging up.

"So? Is she okay? Is she hurt?" I ask, desperately.

"Yeah, she's fine. She said she just needed some time away from everything and everyone. But when I mentioned you, she said not to tell you anything. She's pissed at you, Mac"

I sigh and look at her.
"I have no idea why, but I need to go find her. Where is she?"

Riley thinks for a few seconds then sighs and finally tells me where and memories instantly start playing out in my head.

****FLASHBACK****

We were back from a particularly hard mission, where we almost weren't able to save a pregnant woman from her husband, a high level human trafficker. But you did.

So when you got back home all you wanted to do was unwind, but that was proving to be difficult because Mac refused to take you home and insisted on going to the Griffith Observatory.

It was where you went together to just stop, remember and enjoy all the good things you had in your life. It was also where you had your first kiss.

When you arrived, just before going in, you turned to him and asked "Mac, I love you and I love coming here with you. But what the hell are we doing here instead of going home and sleeping like there's no tomorrow?"

He chuckled and answered "Will you relax? I just wanna show you something"

"Okay, but let's pick up the pace. Cause I really just wanna take a shower and go to bed. Or both. At the same time" you said smiling at him.

"Okay, just come with me" he said while leading you to the very same place where you kissed him for the first time.

"Do you remember that day?" He asked you

You smiled and answered "Of course I remember! This was where you told me you couldn't handle the fact that we almost die on a daily basis and you still hadn't told me how you felt about me."
You paused and looked at him.
"Then I kissed you and you told me that was the best day of your life"

"Yeah, well. Here I am again, begging for your love" he says while kneeling and your hand immediately is covers your lips.

"Y/N, will give me a lifetime of 'best days'? Will you marry me?"

"Yes, you nerd!!! Of course!!" You scream and laugh at him while he slips the ring onto your finger.
He comes up and you kiss him senseless.
And when you both stop to catch your breath, he puts his forehead on yours and says "You're my home"
And you stay like that until you finally decide to go home and 'celebrate' 😏

***END OF FLASHBACK***

I arrive at Griffith Observatory and there she is sitting at a bench. Looking so brokenhearted that all I wanted to do was hold her, but I knew that would have to wait.

"Y/N?" I approach her

She looks at me and sighs.
"Go home, Mac"

I sit next to her and answer "You are my home".
