Chapter 23

Third person's POV

The sun is already up, shining through the hospital's curtains and birds chirping outside the window. Nurses and doctors are walking here and there, checking their patients if they are okay.

One of the female patients started to flutter her eyes open and the first thing she sees is the white empty ceiling.

Where am I...?

She knew that she would end up at the hospital as she slowly turned her head a bit to the right after she felt someone was holding her hand. It was no other her step brother Woong.

Wait... Is he the one who brought me to the hospital?

What happened that night? A flash of memory came rushing into her head as she remembered about the fight against Mayuri's two man and Jihoon came save her.

She thought that she heard someone's voice after that before she fainted. She put her hand to her head almost immediately due to the pain striking her head.

She didn't realize it at first but now she sees his face is all messed up. Did he fight with someone? And how the hell did he knows where she's was that night?

She has been staring at him for a while now that watching him sleep could actually makes her to relax a bit.

She move her body forward slowly to sit up straight, she reached out her hand just to caresses his hair but stop halfway due to the pain again.

At the same time, he open his eyes while blinking twice and sat up straight as he rubbed one of his eyes to reduce the drowsiness. He look at her realizing that she is already awake as he widened his eyes.

"Y-You're awake!"he spoke in a hoarse voice.

"Are you okay?"he asked in full of concern wash over his expression.

"I-I'm fine. It doesn't hurt that much"I answered, wanting to appear tough.

He hung his head low as the awkward silence came to visit. She never felt this awkward with him before. It feels so different. She was about to open her mouth to say something but he's the one to say it first.

"You told me you would call me if anything happens but you didn't"

He clenched his fist that's on top of his lap while gritting his teeth.

"I was so worried that you didn't pick up the call or reply to my texts that I had to track down your phone only to see you got beaten up by that bastard!"

"Wait... So you did fight Jihoon?"she cut in before he gets angry again.

"Well yeah he is the one who beat you up"he answered, confident with it.

"You're wrong Woong"she shook her head left to right.

"What? I don't get it. He's the only person there"he furrowed his eyebrows.

She heave a soft sigh, recalling the incident again before explain briefly to him.

"He didn't beat me up. He actually save my life from the two bad guys that's under Mayuri's command"she paused before continuing."and I'm sorry for not calling you, I happened to be drunk at that time"

"You were DRUNK?! I TOLD YOU TO--"

"Shhhhhh!! Quiet down!"

She shushed him, covering his mouth with her hand not bothering to endure the pain in her body.

"I know you're mad but they insisted me to drink and I didn't want to reject their offer. I'm sorry, again"she told, releasing her hand from his mouth and apologize for the second time.

"No it's okay. I kinda feel bad for accusing that bastard and punching his face out of nowhere"he sighed, feeling guilty about it.

"Also he probably already knows about your gender by now"

He send me an innocent smile that plastered on his face.

"WHAT?!"she was shocked but she told herself that she didn't care about her gender got reveal."Ahem! I mean it's cool. It's cool. Am not mad"

"You sure? You were freaking out not too long ago"he scratches the back of his head while tilting it to the side.

"Shut up!"

She crossed her arm across her chest while looking at the other way as she heard him chuckle. She turn her head to look at him again.

"I'm really glad that you're fine"he beam a smile so brightly that it blinded her eyes.

"Oh and one more thing, care to tell me about what happened to you wrist?"

Jihoon's POV

I heave a big sigh as I kept on walking back and forth in the bedroom while biting my bottom lips. Woong's words had been in my mind lately like a broken mixtape.

And I can't seem to get rid of it plus unanswered questions attacking in my mind. I'm desperate to know the answer but I know he wouldn't allow me to see Hyunmi after what happened.

Oh yeah he did accuse me for beating him I mean her ugh I don't know anymore. This is really giving me a headache as I heard the door of the room being open.

I didn't bother to turn around but I can hear the sounds of footstep coming closer to me until I felt someone's arms snaked around my waist.

"What's wrong? Is something troubling you?"Mayuri asked in a worried tone.

It took me a few seconds to answer her.

"No. It's nothing"

She unwrapped her arms around my waist as she turned my body around gently, wanting me to face her that I had a trouble look only face.

She reach her hands to cup my cheeks and stare right through her eyes. She panicked when she saw me with my face all messed up with blood and bruise. She instantly treat me with ointment and stick the plaster on my face.

Somehow by her soothing touch makes me feel relax but it didn't last long.

"What's wrong?"she asked me again as I avoided eye contact with her."You can always tell me anything. I'm here for you"

Silence came to visit between the two of us and it somehow feels tense and I don't like it. Should I ask her some question about her hurting Hyunmi and all the lies she made? No maybe I shouldn't. I should probably ask Hyunmi first before consider it to Mayuri.

"Noona..."I called and she hum as a respond."Do you love me?"
