"God Alison, what do you have in here? We are leaving for two weeks, not two years." I asked my friend as I helped her carry her bags out of our dorm room, and to the car downstairs where our friends were waiting.
"How am I supposed to know what to pack? We haven't even decided where we are going, we might end up in places that are freezing cold, burning hot, or pouring rain." She retorted as she took a look around our dorm room one more time before closing the door. "Where is your sense of adventure my dear best friend? We shall go wherever our heart pleases." I replied to her.
"We are going with three boys, knowing them their heart shall lead us to a bloody strip club." Alison retorted as she remembered the one time, we had decided to trust our friends in deciding what to do for the day.
"Oh, come on, your boyfriend is one of them. And you know he loves you too much to do that. Too bad you weren't dating last time, because maybe then he could have saved us from a lot of discomfort and pain." Alison and Jason had been dating for around 6 months now, and they were seriously the cutest couple ever, with Alison's calm, serious nature balancing his loud, outgoing self.
"Yeah, that's true. But honestly even Ryder wouldn't have done anything purposely that you wouldn't like. We all know that it was Jake who had that plan." We had reached the lobby and were getting off the lift when I realized what she just said, "Can you please stop saying those things about me and Ryder? He is my best friend and just that." Alison didn't look that convinced but didn't push the topic anymore as we rolled our suitcases out to the trio of boys packing the last of their things into the twins' trusty, and much loved, range rover.
The three of them were standing and joking around, completely oblivious to the attention that they were receiving from the few college girls (and some boys) that were around the parking lot at 7 in the morning. Being used to this, Alison and I ignored the glares that we got as we reached the car and shoved our stuff into the booth before closing the door.
"Careful!!" Jake and Jason screamed as they both quickly checked to make sure that there weren't any scratches or marks on their precious "Linda". "For someone who doesn't really have any cares in the world, you are way too obsessed with that car Jake." I mentioned as I remembered the time, he didn't talk to me for an entire day because I slammed the door too hard.
"Because, my dear, favorite brown friend, this isn't just any car. And anyway, I always knew you were jealous that I didn't give you the same amount of attention to you as Linda. But don't worry, you come to a close second, but hurt her again and you are walking for the rest of this trip. Got it?" Jake retorted as he once again checked that everything was proper and clean.
"Now come on!! ADVENTURE HERE WE COME!!" With that Jake got behind the wheel, and Jason took shotgun while me, Ryder and Alison took the backseat, with me sitting in the middle. Noticing the cup of coffee in Ryder's hands I quickly turned to him with what I hoped was puppy eyes that he couldn't refuse.
With a roll of his eyes, he gave me the Starbucks cup. "Aww do we all get coffee or is it just for your precious 'princess'", Alison commented, making fun of his nickname for me. Both of us rolled our eyes and told her to shut up, being used to our friend's constant jokes.
"So where to first?" Jake realized as he had no idea which way to turn. Everyone's confused expressions, forced Alison to groan and tell Jake to just head towards the highway and they can see where to go next."God help me," Alison muttered after realising that Jake didn't know the way to the highway.
"Okay how about we continue on this highway until it begins to get dark, then we look for the best towns to visit. Then we all mark things close to this highway that we would want to do? Then as we drive past, we go there, spending the night wherever it is the most convenient." Ryder proposed his plan.
"Damn Ry, that is probably the smartest thing I have ever heard you say." I joke. "Oh, shut up princess, but this works for everyone right?" Ryder rolled his eyes at my comment before asking everyone.
"ADVENTURE HERE WE COME!!" And this time Jake managed to pull out of the parking lot, beginning a trip where I knew we would have the time of our lives.
