"Alia!! That's like your tenth cotton candy in five hours. You are going to be sick!" Alison tries and convinces me to stop. She should know by now that I never get sick from food. She said the same thing after I ate the 4 bags of popcorn, pizza, 3 hot dogs, and several slushies and ice-creams. We had been in the carnival since 10 in the morning, and the sky had already turned dark. We had spent the past few hours eating, singing along with the crowd as the band played songs, playing games, and going on all the rides. We were just about to leave when Ryder mentioned the Ferris wheel, I was seriously hoping that no one mentioned that darn ride. Looking at the others, I realised that nobody else was keen to go on the death trap.
Ryder must have noticed it to because he turned to me with an almost sinister look in his eyes, before I could protest, he reminded me that I owed him, since I had woken him up at 3 in the morning to go dancing in the pouring rain. Accepting my defeat, we promised to catch up with our friends as Ryder dragged me away to wait in line for our murder.
The line couldn't have been shorter, and so before we knew it, we were sitting in the box that will lead to our death. Ryder, understanding my pain, took my hand. However, he didn't realise that it just put me in more pain as I pined over my best friend, without him ever realising it.
Slowly, my fear subsided as we rose, and I saw the lights light up the sky from the nearby town. "It's beautiful" I muttered as I forgot about my fear and looked around me.
"Yah, beautiful." Ryder muttered, however when I turned to look at him, he was looking at me instead of the view. My heart started fluttering as I realised how close we were, my eyes kept moving to his lips, and just as I was about to lean in the Ferris wheel began making some noises, before it stopped.
Moving away from him I started freaking out as the worker instructed us to keep calm as there has been a technical difficulty. I don't know what exactly happened, but one moment I am cursing the worker, and the next Ryder was kissing me. At first, I was paralysed and didn't know what to do, but a few seconds later I responded, and let me tell you, that was the best kiss that I have ever had. I never really understood the whole 'fireworks exploding around you' thing, or the 'sparks flying' until my lips were on his. Without realising it we had reached the bottom, and both of us pulled away, panting as we stared at each other.
Hastily, we both got out only to meet our friends, staring at us with different expressions.

"Hey is it just me or did the Ferris wheel stop moving?" Jake asked as he pointed at the death trap, which had our oblivious best friends. Without another word, all three of us ran to the worker to find out what happened.
He explained that there was a technical difficulty and that we had to wait a few minutes, but before I could turn around, Jason stopped him "There is no technical difficulty. You have just pressed the button that stops it." At first, I was confused on how he knew that, until I remembered that he spent a summer manning the Ferris wheel in a carnival a few months ago.
The worker began stuttering as he realised that he got caught, with a few pointed glares from us he explained that some guy had paid him 10 bucks so that he could make a move on his girl.
As we walked away, Jason said what was in all of our minds, "We are all thinking that Ryder is the guy aren't we?" We were about to agree when we see the Ferris wheel moving, and Ryder and Alia kissing.
"Holy shit" Jake mutters, and I couldn't help but agree with him. Alia and Ryder are both my best friends and all I can do is hope that the two don't hurt each other, or do something stupid. As they get off and walk towards us, I couldn't help but notice how flustered the two of them are.
"The park is about to shut, let us just get out of here." Alia quickly mutters, as she 'sneakily' glances at Ryder.
"Are we seriously going to just ignore the kiss that we all know happened?" Jason asks as he just stares at our best friends. They began stuttering and before anyone could say anything, Ryder speaks up, "Calm down you guys, she is my best friend. The kiss didn't mean anything, she was freaking out about the height and that was the only thing I could think of to calm her down."
As we all turn to Alia, I couldn't help but pity my best friend as I notice how her face dropped with every word that Ryder spoke. She must have seen my face because she forced a smile, before laughing and agreeing with what Ryder said. I knew that there was nothing I could do or say that would make Alia talk about it, so I just watched as she put on a fake smile, acting like everything was all right.
