Chapter 4

Meanwhile, at the local hub in the village, came a young man. He recently turned twenty-four years of age. He was tall and handsome with short dark brown hair and brown eyes. His name is Phillip, and he went on a trip to meet again his future spouse. The wife he was promised years ago when he was six years old.

"What can I get you, young man?" the bartender asked.

"Just a glass of scotch, nothing heavy," Phillip replied. The bartender set Phillip's glass in front of him. "Pardon, mister, may I ask where I might find the Princess Aurora? She seems to not be at the castle. Perhaps, she is visiting in the village."

Phillip already tried the castle, but they wouldn't let him in. Not even after he told them he was King Richard's son, sent there by the king himself. Phillip is the Prince Phillip, himself, and Princess Aurora is his promised wife.

"Nothing heavy, well of course the man is already drunk!" the bartender babbled.

"I beg your pardon."

"The princess is dead," another man interrupted.

"Dead!" Prince Phillip exclaimed. "Why would she be dead?"

"Well, she was cursed when she was born."

"Didn't the curse say that she will die on her eighteenth birthday?"

"Legend says, the king was so grief stricken that he killed his daughter himself. That way, he wouldn't have to face her death later on," the bartender commented.

"Why would a father impose such a terrible thing on his daughter? Didn't he love her?" Prince Phillip asked.

"Well, yes. However, she would die. Why not save his grief and just move on right now?"

"What evil creature could cause such ill fortune?"

"They say, the witch hated the king deeply."

"No, no, I heard the witch was jealous of the queen's beauty," the man interrupted.

"Different versions, same meaning. Anyways, you will be wasting your time going after a princess that is dead. I suggest you return to where ever you came from."

"I might as well," replied a saddened Phillip.

Prince Phillip wasn't defeated easily. After leaving the hub, Phillip stopped to rest at the local inn. He didn't believe that King Sebastian would kill off his own daughter.

As he settled into bed, he wondered how Princess Aurora would be like. He remembered how many people commented on how beautiful the princess would turn out to be. She would be just as beautiful as Queen Nellie was. Queen Nellie was a fair looking maiden. Her daughter probably would look just as pretty. He also remembered how Princess Aurora was blessed with gifts. She would be wise and courageous, and Phillip couldn't help but smile at the thought. A beautiful maiden who was clever and a warrior. He suddenly felt attracted to her, without even meeting her.

When sleep took over him, his dreams where invaded by thoughts of Princess Aurora.
