"D-Dad?" Yang panicked as her father crossed his arms over his chest. "What are you doing here?"
"Are you going to invite me in or do we need to have this conversation on your welcome mat?"
Yang opened her door in a hurry, embarrassment creeping up her face. It was rare to see her father mad, and not just mad, but the calm kind of mad that said he knew the answers to every question he was going to ask. But, she knew he was going to ask them anyway to see if she would avoid it or try to lie to him.
He rushed passed her and paced in front of her couch for a moment before holding out his hand. "Let me see it."
Kinda hard to hide it I suppose. Yang sighed and grasped his hand with her metal one. "It's really not as bad as it seems dad."
"Not as bad as it seems? Yang I don't hear from you in weeks and the next thing I know your mother shows up on my doorstep saying you lost an arm!"
"I was going to tell you but I have been out the last couple days and was just released today. When the hell did Mom find you?"
"Today," he mumbled as he continued to go over her arm. "She brought me back in one of her portals and dropped me off outside your door. Don't know why she didn't just drop me off inside it's not like you have a roommate."
There was an attention grabbing cough from behind him and he slowly turned around, finally noticing Blake sitting in her bed, nervously playing with the sheets. "Oh! I was unaware you had company."
Blake awkwardly waved. "Nice to finally meet you Mr. Xiao Long."
"Please call me Tai," he corrected her. "I would say it's a pleasure to meet you as well but I'm afraid my daughter has forgotten her manners on introductions so I don't know your name."
"Dad this is Blake," she said as she rushed to her side and helped her off the bed. "She's my girlfriend. I had planned on introducing her to you soon but it seems you beat me to the punch."
He looked them over for a moment before smiling, his former angry demeanor gone. "It's nice to meet you Blake. You must be very special to Yang, she doesn't usually introduce me to her girlfriends."
"She's very special," Yang said and touched her forehead to Blake's.
Tai huffed and tossed himself on her couch. "Your mother said the guy who did it is still out there somewhere. She has scouts looking for him but they haven't had any luck yet. However, that's all she told me before ducking into another portal. I want to hear what happened from you. The whole story."
So Yang explained everything, starting from the Chief offering her the job and ending with Kali and Ghira's wish for them to take over the house. Blake remained quiet, only filling in the details of her past with Adam and his abduction of her, and Tai listened intently, never interupting. When the tale was done he leaned back and drug his hands down his face as he released a stressful sigh.
"And here I thought having to hear about Ruby breaking Weiss out of her parents house was the worst thing I'd have to hear coming from my children. Shoulda known you'd one up her."
"Hey I didn't technically do anything illegal!" Yang held her hands up in defense. "Weiss's dad tried to have Ruby arrested for kidnapping."
Blake's eyes shot to Yang in shock but decided to ask about it later. Instead she bowed her head respectfully at Tai. "I'm incredibly sorry for the trouble I've caused your daughter."
He laughed gave her head a fatherly pat. "You didn't cause her any trouble Blake, I can assure you. Yang always was a bit of thrill seeker, she lived for adventure when she was young right up her graduation at Beacon. It wasn't until after Ruby's accident that she lost that sense of adventure. It seems you gave her that part of herself back."
