PRESSURE, GUNSHOTS, THEN SILENCE.
That was all it took for the little safety Maella Samuels had in her life to disappear.
Woodbury and the prison — two groups with a variety of differences, yet the same enemy.
The Governor was a bad man, according to all of the adults. His urge to control was a sort of dictatorship, with him at the top, evidently enough, had evolved him into the type of person whose ideology put him in the category of evil. After killing person, after person, rather relentlessly with his gun one may add, he must have lost his mind. Controlling an entire community of oblivious citizens was one thing, however, murdering those very same citizens in cold blood, that was another. That cruel, and harsh reality put solid truth into the type of person the Governor was.
Nothing more than a murderer, who lost control over the town he once called home.
There had been approximately seventy-three people, according to official count, who lived in that town titled Woodbury. When the Governor tipped over the edge though, that count dropped, slowly, but surely. First, through a series of ambushes to their old enemy, the prison, then by the one-eyed man's hand himself. Killing the majority of the adults in their community, then leaving without a single trace, left the people of the prison with a rather unexpected conundrum as of how to handle the Governor's citizens.
No one, at least in the beginning, could have imagined an outcome quite like this. Where the people of Woodbury walked in single filed lines, down the stairs of an old school bus, and into the prison's opened gates. A new sanctuary they wished to grow, and one day call their home.
The Samuels family, naturally, had been a part of this group. Their father, having escaped a demise by the hands of the Governor through a series of excuses that he had yet to share, escorted his three younger daughters through the isles of the bus. Ryan Samuels lived for one purpose, and one alone — to keep his children, Mika, Elizabeth, and Ella, alive to see the end of whatever horrid control brought the dead back, to torment the scarce living.
