Amulya had the weekend off. No matter the off days she had in between the week, Dr. Stone let her take the weekend off. That Friday night, she settled down in her couch, after a long call with Shannon, to watch a movie.
Nothing interesting was playing, but anything to pass the time.
Half way through the movie, her door bell rang. It was Alaric, he looked a bit out of place with his dress shirt and slacks and dress shoes.
"You look classy" she told him, leaning against her door, crossing her arms.
"Yeah I had a meeting with my publisher" he told her shrugging, before coming to the point, "Anyway, are you busy tomorrow?"
"I haven't made any plans yet. Why?"
"I promised to take Meghan and Tris to the amusement park. Meg has been asking for you. Would you like to go?" he asked nervously. Sure Meghan asked about her once or twice, but it was purely his decision, he wanted her to come. He didn't know what this strange attraction towards her was, but he liked it. He liked spending time with her.
"Um..." She hesitated, "I don't want to intrude"
"You won't be intruding. Please? You'll make Meg very happy"
"Okay fine. Thank you for inviting me" She smiled at him.
"Great. See you at nine? It's around an hour from here"
"Sweet, Good night, Alaric"
"Good night" He smiled, loving the way she said her name.
The next morning, she woke up early as usual and dressed up warm. She wore a pale pink sweater, under her brown jacket, and blue jean; matching them with white shoes. She felt cute wearing that outfit.
It was almost nine when Alaric came to her door. Together they made way to the parking lot.
"We have to pick my sister and her kids up on the way. Did you eat yet?"
"Yeah, I'm not much of a breakfast person." She smiled at him, as they got into the car.
"Buckle up then. Today is going to be one of the best days of your life." He smiled at her, and then they started.
"Mummy, I want cotton candy" Meghan whined pulling her mother's arm.
"Keep quiet Meg. I told you I will buy you later. You already ate an ice cream." Amulya smiled at the pouting girl before she felt someone tug on her hand.
She looked down to see Tristan looking at her.
"Can we get on that" He pointed to the Ferris wheel "Uncle Al is scared" he whispered, not so quietly, making Amulya giggle and Alaric playfully glare at the little boy.
"Are you even allowed to get on that?" She asked, not sure if he was old enough to go on that.
"Yes, Daddy took me last time. It makes Mummy and Uncle sick"
"Okay then. Come on" she said picking up the little boy, letting Hilary and Alaric know that they were going on the Ferris wheel, and they went to stand in line.
"Amulya" the boy said making her look at him. "I like you" he smiled at her making her heart warm up.
"Can I tell you a secret?" She told him, making him nod with curiosity and excitement. "You are my favourite person too" Tristan smiled and snuggled into her, making her giggle. This boy was precious.
Hilary was sitting alone on a bench nearby, when Amulya and Tristan returned after the ride. The boy was holding onto Amulya with excitement from the ride.
"Where is Alaric?" she questioned Hilary.
"He took Meghan to get some cotton candy. They'll meet us in a few"
"Amulya can we go on that one" Tristan asked pointing to roller coaster.
"Don't be a bother, Tristan" Hilary warned her son.
"It's no problem. I love the rides" Amulya warned her, before taking little Tristan towards the ride.
Tristan pouted when the operator told he was too young to go on the ride. But he quickly jumped in joy when the man pointed towards one of the kids' rides on the side. It was one of the train rides, which resembled a roller coaster, but relatively slow and kid friendly.
Hilary smiled at her son, who waved at the ladies from his car.
"Tristan has hard time adjusting with new people. I'm surprised he talked you." Amulya smiled at her.
"Thank you for letting me tag along today. I really like your kids, they are so sweet."
"And they like you. Get ready to spend a lot more holidays with us" Hilary laughed, making Amulya smile.
"I definitely won't mind. It feels good to have friends around here." She said thinking about her family. She missed them badly.
"Mummy, Amulya" Tristan shouted as he ran towards the smiling ladies "I went on the ride all by myself" He said making them laugh.
"You are a big boy now, Tris" Amulya smiled, picking up the boy.
"I'm hungry" Tristan whined, squirming around in his mother's grasp.
"Just a few minutes baby, uncle Al will be here and we all can eat something" She told the child, and muttered lowly "I wonder where this man went"
"There is a food court right over there" Amulya pointed to the tent, few feet away from them, "Let's sit over there, and wait for them"
Little Tristan jumped in joy again. "Can we get ice cream?"
"Sure" his mother said, not minding that he was eating a second ice cream for that day.
"Order something, I'll try calling him" Hilary said, getting up from their table and walking out.
Amulya and Tristan got some food, and they were eating when Hilary came back.
"My stupid phone died" She told Amulya.
Ignoring the 'Mummy cursed' comment from Tristan, Amulya took put her phone.
"I'll call him. What's his number?"
Hilary recited the number to Amulya, and she typed it on the dial pad.
As soon as she hit the dial, she noticed that the number was already saved in her phone.
