Victoria's P.O.V.

"I'm Sargent Henry Lawson's wife." I  tell the nurse. She nods and ushers me to his room. "How is he?" I ask, "He was in worse shape then than he is now Miss. The sword went straight through. But he got stitched up real nice. And by the next day he was in good shape." She slides the curtain over and says: "You're all he talks about Miss. You oughta be here when he wakes up." I smile and hug her then whisper: "Thank you." As she closes the curtain. He lays there sound asleep, his beautiful brown hair in his face, and his hands resting on his chest. I only have a few minutes to admire him before his eyes flutter open and he smiles. "Am I dreaming?" "No,it's me. It's me." I say and pull him close, planting my head on his chest. "I thought I'd never see you again." "I know, but I'm here now. Hold me and your baby as tight as you want." He looks up after my subtle attempt to tell him about our baby, then says: "I needed to hear that. I really did." I smile and say: "How long before your released?" "Two weeks. And I won't be going back to the war either. Apparently a wounded soldier isn't fit for much of anything let alone battle. Besides it looks like Ulysses Grant is winning anyways. War might not last long anyway." I hold him close and say: "I know I want our side to win, but honestly I just want our life to return to normal." I say and he sighs and then says: "I don't think life will ever return to normal. But I think we can start over."
