"Miss Victoria, Mister Henry the war's over!!! They's done surrendered. General Lee and the boys surrendered!!!" Hattie says as she comes in the parlor, where I sit with Victoria and the children. "Is it really over Hattie?" Analeise asks and Hattie says: "Yes ma'am Miss Analeise the war is over." Analeise smiles and I ask: "The Yankees won?" "Yes sir Mister Henry. It would seem we didn't have a chance at the get-go." I chuckle and say: "No, ma'am we didn't." Victoria sighs and then says: "Well I say that this calls for a celebration. Hattie go into the kitchen and fetch the wine, and I'll make the children some punch!!" I smile as I look at my optimistic wife, then hop up and say: "How about we go outside, it's a nice day?" "I'll get the umbrella!" Victoria says and kisses my cheek as I head outside.
