-Third-person/Aurora P.O.V-

"Why? Why do we have to hide?" Aurora snapped her jaws shut, immediately regretting what she had said. Storm looked down his snout at her, hissing and spreading his wings so he swelled to twice his normal size. "Because dragons like you and your sister aren't normal like other dragons. You're half icewing and half rainwing, what dragons would want to have you around? Most sandwings would hand you over to Burn for her weirdling collection!" He roared at them. "But the war is over, the dragonets of destiny stopped it." Plumeria said with a flicker of hope in her deep brown eyes. Aurora looked over to her father to see his response, but he just waved an ice-blue wing at them. "That's just a rumor, how could a bunch of sniveling dragonets stop a war that's been going on for nearly twenty years?" He sneered.

Aurora's last weak flame of hope sputtered out as if a dragon had breathed a plume of frostbreath onto it, taking away all the warmth and replacing it with bone-chilling cold. Cold, ha, not really much of an icewing am I.  She thought bitterly. Then again I'm not really much of a rainwing either. Her thoughts were interrupted by Plumeria gently wrapping a wing around her, and she noticed for the first time how different she looked from her sister. Aurora had scales that plated her legs and along her snout, that could change color when she wanted them too, and when she didn't. Plumeria looked like she had stepped in rainbow paint halfway up her legs. She had rainwing scales all along her snout, the ridge of her back, and scattered on the undersides of her wings. Aurora began to wonder, how are we going to protect ourselves from dragons who will hurt us like father said? I can breathe frostbreath, and Plumeria can shoot venom. Is that enough? Her thoughts again whirled to a stop as she realized her father was talking to them.

"-forest, don't even think about following me to the ice kingdom. I may not be as lovey or cuddly about it, but you're still my dragonets and I don't want you getting killed." Storm finished gruffly, then he spun abruptly and flew off in the direction of the ice kingdom. Aurora turned to her older sister, "what do we do now Plumeria? We can't survive without parents, we're three and four-year-old dragonets!" She cried, waving her talons at the small cave around them. Plumeria took a deep breath, pale green and orange rippling through her scales for a moment before she changed them back to match her icewing colors. "We stay hidden, don't let anyone find us. After that, well, we'll just have to see."
