I pull into the school's parking lot with Tyson (in human form). He's chattering on about our outfits that he picked, and I must say, I am impressed. I kinda thought he would choose something weird for us to wear, but no. We are both wearing black jeans ripped at the knees with dark green shirts and our leather jackets. I grab his hand and walk up to the doors of the school, disregarding my peers, and going straight to my locker.
"Dad, should I shift now?" Tyson asks, pulling on my hand slightly.
"No, not yet. I'm gonna take you to the bathroom." He nods and goes back to people watching. I stuff my extra books into my locker along with leftovers from breakfast for lunch.
"Hey man!" I hear Tanner yell from down the hall.
"Hey, dude! I'd like to introduce you to someone!" I greet. I refuse to be embarrassed about my kid and will tell everyone whos asks that he's mine.
"Yeah. I saw the kid. Whos is he?" Tanner asks once he's close enough.
"He's mine." I brace myself for some kind of backlash (teenage dad here) but none comes.
"Cool. Whos his mom? She from your old school?" Shit. I did not think this through. I don't want to lie to Tanner (he's my best friend!) but is it really worth telling him I'm a Jack of all Trades? No. No, it is not.
"Doesn't matter. He's mine. His name is Tyson." Okay. Crisis avoided.
"I get it, man. You don't want to talk about it. I won't push!" and that is why Taner is my best friend. He doesn't push me at all!
"But man, why didn't you just tell me you were a dragon?" Say what?
"Huh?"
"Yeah, some dude got a picture of a black dragon speeding down the mountain chasing after a black dot. I figured it was you and the baby dragon you came to school with the other day. Speaking of, where were you these last two days?" Tanner says casually, showing me a picture of indeed me chasing after Tyson right before I changed his blood.
"Uh... yeah. Me... a dragon... rare... didn't want people to uh-"
"Yeah yeah, I get it. So? Why weren't you in school?" He doesn't care in the slightest? He's either really cool or really stupid.
"I was at the clinic with Tyson... Tanner? Aren't you a bit surprised?" I mise well play along with everyone thinking I'm a dragon.
"Nah! You were so sneaky with your magic I figured you were something out there. Plus, ya know, you came into school with a baby dragon on your shoulders. Everyone thought he was yours. I did too." Geeze! I need to get caught up!
"Uh- no. I mean yes! I mean!- ugh! Tyson is my son, he is a dragon, I'm a dragon! (apparently)"
"Cool. Right, I gotta go." He gives me the most suggestive smirk, "I got a girl to please!" and with that Tanner leaves me thoroughly confused.
----
"Alright, class! We're gonna play dodge ball for the rest of the day! Set the balls on the line and go to the opposite walls!" Coach yells. He's not a coach of anything, but he has us call him that.
I wait for him to blow his whistle before rushing to grab a ball and chuck it as hard as I can. It hits some girl in the boobs (oops!) and she falls over. (oops again)
"Woo! You go, dad!" I falter and almost get hit at the sound of Tysons voice. When did he shift back!?
"Thank you, Bud!" I shout back and continue the game.
Ten minutes later and everyone is out except for me and two other boys on the other team. I smirk. They start throwing the balls, me dodging them carefully. (I may or may not have used a bit of magic to help)
