Genevieve
Today was the day. The day to choose if you're leaving or staying. The day that changes your live forever, or doesn't.
If I choose abnegation, I know I'm going to lose my sister and brother. I know they aren't going to stay here.
My sister Beatrice is going to choose dauntless, she's brave and Selfish.
My brother Caleb is probably going to choose erudite, he's smart. One time I got to look at his room and there were books everywhere. At that moment I knew he was meant to be erudite.
But me? I don't want my family to be separated.
I don't want to leave my parents, but at the meantime I don't want to lose my brother and sister.
But you know what they say huh?
Faction before blood..
Beatrice
I was ready to go but had to wait for like ten minutes because the rest wasn't ready. I was looking around me, all these abnegation houses. You know when you love a place and want to remember every inch of it so you look around and try to copy it into your mind? At this point this was not the case, I was happy I was leaving, not happy because I was leaving my parents, but because this was the only change I could be free.. just like a bird.
I saw Catelyn and Thomas leaving their house with their grandma in a chair. They're probably bringing her to someone who can care for her, because they are obviously going to leave abnegation. My father once told me their parents died in the war that happened fifteen years ago. The only thing left was their pictures in the newspapers and that was only because they were members of the city council. Just like my parents; they were also members of the city council. I was always scared to ask them about it, because it can open closed wounds and I don't want that..
My family finally came outside and my dad closed the door. Genevieve was walking next to me and by the look on her face I knew she was terrified. She was scared to make a bad choice, I know exactly how she feels.
"Genevieve, whatever happens.. I'll always love you okay?" She just nods and I give her a kiss on her forehead. People always say I look older than I am, Genevieve looks exactly her age. I'm also longer than her, she still looks like a child.
Catelyn
Today was the day of the Choosing Ceremony. I was going to make a decision who would change my life forever. I don't have parents that can give me advice or something, I just have my grandma who manages to always forget our names. And my twin brother Thomas. Our parents died in the war fifteen years ago, only thing left from my mother is her necklace and pictures in the newspaper.. Sometimes I hear kids say they don't want their parents anymore, but you don't know how much someone means to you until their gone is my advice for them. It's not fair how they still have parents and I don't. I want them next to me, they don't want them..
"So what are you choosing today?" I ask Thomas when we start walking behind the Prior family.
"That's none of your business" he said. He always acts like this when he is nervous or scared. He just keeps pushing me away..
I frowned and stopped talking. Instead I saw Genevieve looking at me and I waved at her, she waved back. Oh how her brother is going to be mad about it..
"Don't do that. We aren't suppose to do things that make us happy." Thomas said getting my attention.
"And that brother, is the reason I'm leaving."
