Chapter 6

Sterlin's POV:

Two days..it's been two days since I brought Kaiden to the pack house to be checked out by our doctors, and he has yet to wake up. I haven't left his side yet, not even for a run. My wolf is becoming restless but I can't abandon our mates side. He may be unconscious but I know he'll be scared waking up in a place he isn't familiar with. I'm so concerned with Kaiden I haven't even punished the wolves that did this to him. I'll just have to wait until my love wakes up and we'll discuss a proper punishment together. 

"Good morning Alpha" I turn from my seat to see the pack doctor; Doctor Jeffery standing in the door way.

I nod my head in acknowledgement. M hand never leaving Kaidens. "So I want to know again what exactly is wrong with him?" I ask. "Well, Alpha, Luna has three cracked ribs and a skull fracture from the pack warriors repeated blows to the back of his head." my grip on Kaiden's hand only gets tighter with each of the doctor's words. "Alpha, there's more..." I turn to face the doctor to see a look of uncertainty etched on his face. "Yes. What is it?" I question. Clearing his thoart, "Umm after taking a closer look I discovered that Luna already had broken bones that had been healing and bruises fadeing..I believe that he could have been abused." 

Hearing those words I felt like my head was spinning. My mate abused? By whom? After checking Kaiden's vitals he made he way quickly and quietly leaving me in a tense silence with my mate. "Come on, baby, please wake up. You may not know this but I need you. I'm weak without you, I'm nothing." I let the tears fall freely I have no shame I need him. He needs to know I love him and I'll always protect him..even if it kills me. I can see the sun peeking over the the top of the trees the ray shining through the hospital big bay window, casting a warming orange and pink glow across Kaiden's pale face making him look to beautiful to be real. 

A few hours pass by before I hear a knock on the door and send the person a soft 'come in' my eyes never leaving Kaiden's I don't need to look to know It's the pack omega Katie with a breakfast that I'll just refuse to eat. "Good morning Alpha, your dad wanted me to bring you this plate. And to tell you after you've finished eating to meet him in his office." she saying in her soft timid voice. He's got to be kidding me?! Does he honestly think I'll leave Kaiden's side? It's upsetting but with dad still being the Alpha I have no choice but to obey the order. "Fine tell him I'll be there in 15 minutes." I let out a sigh. 

"Yes sir," Katie says bowing her head. Backing up to the door, "I hope he wakes up soon Alpha. A pack is nothing without it's Luna..." she comments sending a weak smile. She's right even a pack can grow weak without it's Luna no matter how strong the Alpha may be. I rub th top of Kaiden's hand while eating the french toast Pops made for me. It may be my favorite but I feel numb I can't taste any of it. After finishing the last of my breakfast I place the plate on the table beside the bed before kissing Kaiden on the forehead, standing up and walking out the room. I make my way past the hospital wing and through the pack house until I'm standing in front of my Dads office bringing my fist up to the tan colored wood to knock, waiting for permission to enter. I enter the room to find Dad, Pops, Doctor Jeffery and man I didn't know. Dad sitting behind the large oak desk, Pops at his side, the doctor in a chair in front of the desk and the stranger by the large bookshelves to the right of the large window. 

"Son please come in" dad ushers me inside the room. Shutting the door behind me I can feel the tension hanging thick in the air. The tenison all coming from the large blonde man I the corner of the room. I could tell by his scent that he was merely a human but a dangerous one at that. the man shoots me a glare not bothering to greet me. "Well, lets get this over with..Son this is Lucas Peters..Kaiden's father." I look at the man in shock. This man was Kaiden's father? They look nothing alike. 'He did it. He's been harming our mate!' my wolf says pacing back and forth. "You" I began pointing my finger at Lucas, "You've been abusing Kaiden!" Pops wears a look of shock on his face, Dad not so much. "Yes I'm aware of this. Regardless he is still my son and I want him returned to me immediately." the man commanded. "And what if I refuse?" I say feeling my eye color start to change. 

"Than I'll send in the hunters to fetch him." He replies I look at Dad for an answer of what was going on. "Lucas here is the leader of the supernatural hunters" Dad begins. "And you let him come here?!" I couldn't believe this what was dad thinking allowing a hunter of all people on our territory has he lost his mind? My wolf was pushing to the surface wanting to tear this human from limb to limb. I just might let him. 

"And what if I refuse? Being here you obviously know what your son is to me." 

"Your mate of not dog I've come for my son!" His voice raising towards the end of his command. Who does this piece of shit think he is coming here demanding the boy he abuses to be returned to him? overr my dead body! 

"Over my dead body you piece of shit!" voicing my thoughts. Balling my fist up at my sides I can feel my whole body begin to. "Shhh baby boy calm down don't worry." Pops rushes by my side rubbing my shoulder gently trying to help calm me down. I can feel myself begin to calm down Pops always knows how to calm me down. I look down at my Pops to see him giving me a smile silently telling me not to worry that we'll figure this all out. 

"Peters you can't except me to allow you to take your unconscious son to you, do you? Your human son at that" my Dad questions drumming his fingers on the desk. Keeping eye contact with the man. 

"Hahaha who says the boy was human?" Peters questions with a laugh.

"What are you saying?" Jeffery asks finally finding his voice. Lucus's laughter dies down a little before he's calming enough to answer the doctor. "He's only half human." Lucas responds with distaste in his voice. We stand there for a few minutes before Pops speaks up voicing the question we're all wondering, "What exactly is he if not completely human?" Pops ask.

"His mother was a Fairy..." 

The room fell silent the rest of us in shock. No one said a word waiting for Lucas to continue. "The Empress of the Vita et Mors to be exact. My mouth a gape,  eyes practically popping out of my head. Is he serious? My mate, Kaiden a fairy? A fairy of life and death at that matter! How did a hunter like him end up with the Empress of fairies? I was about to voice my thoughts when a commotion interupted my train of thoughts. The doctor quietly dismissing himself from the room. 

Minutes pass before the doctor re-enters the room in a rush. A look of panic on his face. "Alpha's he's awake." I turn on my heels to rush out the office door when I was stopped, "Alpha there's something else.." he adds. "What is it?" I ask. 

"The Luna's body is floating above the bed" He says stopping me in my tracks. 

"Looks like the boy has come into his powers early in life," Lucas says before walking past me and out of the office door.
