***ALEX***
"I can't really remember off the top of my head who you're cosplaying as, Fi."
Fionna stretches her legs, which are covered in slightly-mismatched mint-green leggings. One has only white stripes, and the other has white and brown stripes. "Here's a hint," she says, adjusting her black skirt. "She's a sweet little candy girl with a sour attitude."
I look at the rest of Fionna's outfit - a hoodie the same color as her tights, and her hair done up in some kind of ponytail with jewel-bright dots clipped all over the place. "Oh yeah, now I recognize you. Vanellope Von Schweetz, right?"
Fionna makes a chirpy laugh, reminding me of Juliet. "Got it, Feathers." She gets up from the bench and starts walking towards the entrance to the convention hall.
"I never knew you were into that Comic-Con crap," I say, following her into a land of so many people dressed like their favorite characters from their favorite animated movies. I recognize a few Jack Frosts, some Hiro Hamadas, and even a couple dressed as Belle and the Beast.
"This isn't Comic-Con," Fionna says, smacking my arm. "It's Reno Space-Con. This is just the section where they have all the animated stuff."
"I take it you've been here before?"
"Yep. So this is obviously my dream," Fionna says with a wink.
A few cosplayers pass us by, looking at me funny because I'm dressed like a normal civilian. "Is that your subconscious telling me something?" I ask.
"Hey, you're in the dream too," Fionna says. "You can dress up as whoever you want."
I look down at myself. It won't take much to change my outfit into the one I have in mind. All I have to do is think about it, and wham-bam-thank-you-ma'am, there I am in a hoodie striped in two shades of gray.
"Hey, hey, hey," Fionna laughs, holding up her phone and taking a picture. "Looking good, Scott."
I look at Fionna's phone and see the photo of me in costume, complete with gold contacts in my eyes. "Nice," I say. "Very nice."
"Hey, Fionna," says another female voice. I look around and see a girl coming up to us, decked out in full Hiro Hamada armor. The fact that she actually bears a pretty close resemblance to Hiro himself helps - she even has a slight gap tooth.
"Hey, Ash," Fionna says, fist-bumping the other girl - who, now I think about it, looks like she could be her not-quite-identical twin sister - and even adding the "Bata-lata-la!" sound effect afterwards. Then the two of them share a hug.
"Oh my gods, I haven't seen you in forever!" Ash says, vibrating with excitement. "But I see you haven't changed much. Still wearing the same Vanellope costume from, what was it, two years ago?"
"Exactly," Fionna says.
"Well, it suits you anyway. Like this suits me," Ash says, gesturing to her body armor. She then looks me up and down. "Who's this? I've seen a lot of Teen Wolf cosplays in my time, but never you."
"I'm Alex Snow," I say. "But I promise, I'm not actually a werewolf. I'd be Jack Frost so I could really show off my ice powers, but I'd have to pile on the makeup to get the skin tone right."
Ash nods. "Wow, that's awesome. Wish I had powers like yours. But I got something even better." She moves her hands out to her sides, palms down, then blasts off with a gust of wind. With the power of her air elemental, she's able to soar all around the convention center, Iron Man-style.
