Her Dark Mind

Chapter IX

"Jamilah!?" I hear a loud voice boom snapping me back into reality. "Are you listening? Take your jumper off now, it is not permitted" the teacher continued, still glaring at me.

"But sir, I was told that we can wear whatever we feel comfortable in" I retort just wishing for this to be over with.

"That may be the case but obviously you weren't informed of the fact that, yes you can wear whatever you're comfortable in, but it can't be anything that will make you overheat. Which includes the following; sweatpants, hoodies AND jumpers!" This teacher is really starting to piss me off to the point my wolf is desperately trying to claw her way out.

Trying my hardest to just breathe and push my wolf back down, I hold the teachers stare not wanting to ever break it, not wanting to back down.

"Jamilah was it? I don't think you want detention on your first day, do you? What image would that leave on your pack?" The female teacher to the left of the middle one spoke up.

Realisation hit me as I really didn't want detention on the first day, not because I don't want my old pack to look bad but because I don't want to look bad. I came here hoping for a fresh start, to become stronger and to show my pack that I don't need them, that I'm not weak.

Looking back to the teacher in the middle, sending him one last glare before gripping tightly onto the hem of my jumper and sliding it off over my head, bending down as I did so. As I lift my head back up I harden my posture and hold my head high, twisting my body around to chuck my jumper far behind me. As I turn back around I continue holding my teachers stare, I can feel my wolf again trying to claw her way out, my hands are starting to tremble as my rage builds. I ball my hands into fists trying to calm myself and I close my eyes tight as I feel my eyes starting to sting, water blurring my vision from my anger.

I already know what people are thinking, they're disgusted, they think my bodies hideous, that I'm hideous. Can Travis and Trevor see me? Fearing the worst, I muster up the courage to open my eyes. Continuing my staring competition with the teacher, whom I still do not know the name of, and I am greeted by wide eyes and a slackened jaw.

I glance around at everyone else to see them looking at me too, not my face but my abdomen, my back. Everyone looks a little stunned, some even fearful, most people quickly avert their gaze.

"How did she get those?" I hear some whisper.

"There's so many" I hear others say.

"Why would someone do that? Silver leaves scars no matter what on werewolves, especially if it was done before shifting" as I hear this I look down at the ground. Realisation struck me, an injury that was put there by my own mate was permanent on me, it wasn't going to leave my skin. I guess the goddess wants to leave a permanent reminder that I will never be loved, that mates are meaningless and soulmates are a lie.

After what felt like an eternity, the teacher finally spoke again. "Uh...time to begin" clearing his throat he continues "everyone pair up and -uh- head over to the centre of the field. we're going to work on our wolves first as there isn't much to learn". As soon as the teacher stopped talking he hastily made his way to the centre of the field, glancing my way every now and again.

I feel a soft tap on my shoulder and I whip my head around to see Daisy standing there smiling softly. "Hey Jam, can I call you that?".

"Uh yeah sure, what's up?" I question her a little confused. I like the nickname she's given me, it's cute and reminds me of my childhood when my brother and I were close and when we used to do everything together.

"Do you wanna be my partner?" A little shocked at this question as I didn't think anyone would want to go with me, I reply with a slow nod of my head. "Awesome!" She says with a large smile as she grabs hold of my arm and yanks me to where the teachers are waiting.
