Chapter 16

An annoying beeping sound caused me to wake up and I was blinded by bright lights that quickly caused me to shut my eyes again.

"She's up" a voice said.

I opened my eyes and was met with a pair of green eyes which was staring at me with nothing but concern.

"Amalia, love are you okay? Say something." Armani said his voice shaking just a bit.

I ignored him and continued to look around the room.

Bella and Giovanni was sitting in chairs watching Armani and I. Leo was in the corner of the room scrolling on his phone and there was a Doctor on the other side of my bed.

"What happened?" I asked as I tried to sit up but Armani quickly pushed me gently back down.

"Don't move too much amore." he said.

"You were shot two times. Once in the shoulder and once in the leg. However , both of the bullets went straight through you which is good you wont be needing surgery to remove them and they also didn't hit any major arteries. You'll be fine within a couple of weeks just take It easy." The doctor said before he walked out of the room.

"This is all my fault Amalia. I should've known better than to take you to such a public place before the wedding." Armani said.

I didn't say anything back because he was right. It was his fault. None of this would be happening to me if Armani didn't come into my life and flip it upside down. He had no right to I was doing perfectly fine on my own, without him.

When I didn't say anything to him Bella stood up and walked over to him.

"Maybe you, Giovanni, and Leo should go out and grab some lunch and leave me and Amalia alone for a bit." She said quietly.

Armani bit on his lip for a bit before exiting the room with Leo and Giovanni following behind.

Once the guys were gone Bella pulled up her chair to my bed side and sat down in it.

"When did you plan on telling him?" She asked looking me in the eyes.

"Tell him what?" I asked.

"Come on Amalia I'm not dumb." She said as she scooted up my hospital gown and pointed to the scar on my stomach.

I bit my lip nervously and turned my head away from her before pulling the gown back down.

"You had a C-section. So that means you had a baby as well. Where is it?" She asked.

I turned back towards her and blinked away tears as the memory came flooding back to me.

Flashback Three Years Ago (Trigger Warning)

I held my bump and doubled over in the most excruciating pain I ever felt in my whole in my whole entire life. I had just been walking back from work and the pain came on so suddnely. I looked towards the road and tried to haul a cab but they all kept driving past me. Suddnely I felt a gush of wind between my legs before a pool of water gushed down my leg.

"NO, NO NO,' I said it was far too soon for the baby to be coming now. I was only 26 weeks.

I couldn't walk any faurther and was frozen in place. Acting fast I took out my phone and called for an ambulence.

They arrived with in 5 mintues and I was rushed to the closet hopsital. The pain was becoming unbearble and I was begging for pain meds at this point.

As soon as I was settled in the room the doctors went to work cutting me open and muttering stuff under their breathe. Throughout the whole procedure I was beyond nervous I knew it was far two early for my little girl to be here, far too soon.

Finally my baby was taken out of me but there were no cries coming from her. The doctors took her away as I asked repeatedly what was wrong. No one answered me as they stitched me back up. I cried uncontroalby.

3 hours later the doctos came back and told me the heart breaking news. She didn't make it. They allowed for me to hold her tiny little body while I sat there and cried the whole night. I had lost another person that I loved in this world. I was obviously meant to be alone.

End of Flashback

"She was born at 26 weeks and passed within 3 hours." I finally said to Bella.

Her face twisted into saddness and she leaned over and brought me into her arms.

"I'm so sorry honey. That's terrible." She said as she stroked my hair. "Where was the dad?" She asked while pulling back slightly.

"It was a one night stand. He never even knew I was pregnant. I...I thought I could handle it on my own." My voice broke and I busted into tears.

Bella pulled me back into her embrace and allowed me to cry all over her shoulders.

Suddenly Armani was standing in the doorway watching us with an unreadable expression. I could tell that he had heard the whole entire thing.

He walked slowly towards me and took me into his arms and I couldn't help but cry more.

"One day amore, you'll have the family that you always dreamed of. I promise." he whispered in my ear before gently kissing my forehead.

And I believed him.
