Panic

It's been a week since the wedding, and Fergus and I are still on our honeymoon. He has hardly let me leave the bed, not that I'm complaining. Right now, we're watching some kind of movie about Zombies and I can't help but to laugh at everything.

"This is ridiculous."

"You don't like it?"

"It's not that. None of this would ever happen."

"There are a lot of people who think that we would never happen."

"That's completely different. We aren't dead."

"No. We can just turn into an animal at will."

"Come on. Dead people getting up and walking around? One, their hearts aren't beating so their bodies would continue to decompose and they wouldn't have use of their muscles. Two, rigor mortis would set in making any movement impossible. Three, all of these dumb fuck people are afraid of getting bit. There are two problems with that. Do you know how weak human teeth are? It's hard enough for them to bite someone and break skin, but you're trying to tell me that a dead person with rotting teeth and gums are able to tear right into them? Please."

"Can't argue those points."

"If they're so damn worried about getting bit, then they should wear leather and cover their arms with duct tape. I understand that it's probably hot, but I'd rather be hot than eaten alive. And those fucking fences. Jesus Christ. Fences are built to keep strong dogs and other animals in, but these weak and decomposing bodies are knocking those fuckers over like they aren't even in the ground."

"You hate zombies. Don't you."

"It's just unrealistic and stupid."

"Let's watch something else."

"No."

"Why?"

"You like it."

"You don't."

"I just find it ridiculous. I'll watch it."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes?"

"We could distract ourselves."

He smiles wickedly and winks at me, and I laugh and kiss him.

"Again? That's like the seventh time today."

"Well, we don't have to."

"Oh, shut up and take me."

He pulls me close and kisses me, and I couldn't be any happier. This has been the best week of my entire life. No drama, no fighting, just Fergus and I alone together.

"I'm so fucking lucky that you're my wife baby girl."

"I love the way that sounds."

"So do I."

"Fergus Bishop, my husband."

"Mallory Bishop, my wife."

We both smile and he kisses me again as my phone starts to ring and makes us both jump. It was a wedding gift to us from Doc in case we ran into trouble out here or vice versa. None has called, though, until now. I pick it up and answer it.

"Yeah?"

"Mom, you have to come home right now! I can't find dad!"

"Shadow, calm down. What's going on?"

"He was going to take me hunting and told me to meet him at your house. He never showed up. I looked around, but I couldn't find him."

"Stay at Doc's house. Do not leave."
