The wood floors creaked and the sun was nowhere to be seen through the dark curtains. The rooms weren't taken care of. The windows were covered with cobwebs and dust, not a ray of sun could shine through it. The house was quiet.
"Don't wake them, they're sleeping."
(Y/n) said quietly to the spider that made its way to her blackened, withered roses. Her voice was quiet, barely above a whisper.
"They're only sleeping, don't worry."
She got to her feet slowly and held the small knife in her hand firmly.
"Sleeping, they're sleeping..."
Her whispers filled the hallway as a small laugh erupted from her throat.
"They're dead."
She fell to her knees desperately and sobbed.
"Dead! They're all dead! All of them!"
The house was filled with her sobs and shrill screams of desperation. No one dared to go near the house, it was the house of the botanist. It was a house of emptiness and denial. It was a house filled only with darkness.
...
"Mingi we can't move just because you don't like a girl that likes you."
Hongjoong said to the pouting boy in the backseat. 6 other boys were sleeping peacefully in the van.
"Listen, she's rude and she bullies other girls just because she's top of the class."
"You'll be transferring schools again."
"Not a problem with me, I'm not in any rush to graduate college."
He crossed his arms and looked out the window.
"Is that our house?"
"The one next to the raggedy house, yes. It's cheaper than the other houses in this neighborhood."
"Because we're gonna live next to a haunted house."
"Don't judge a book from its cover, maybe the person who lives there is nice."
"Maybe a witch lives there."
"Mingi."
Hongjoong looked at Mingi with a stern look and he shut up. They pulled into the driveway and the boys started to bring down a few boxes.
"The moving van will be here tomorrow morning, so until then, why don't we get to know our....neighbors?"
The houses around them were all vacant, except for the 'haunted' one of course. Wooyoung smiled and put his hands on his hips.
"Well, if we only have one neighbor, we might as well get to know them."
He skipped to the house next door with San and they knocked on the door. The door creaked open and (Y/n) peered out.
"Hi! I'm Wooyoung and this is San! We're your new-"
The door closed abruptly and Wooyoung's jaw dropped.
"...neighbors."
Mingi scoffed and nudged Hongjoong.
"I told you, we live next to a witch."
"Mingi."
Seonghwa scolded him quietly as he brought boxes inside the house. Yunho woke up Jongho and smiled.
"Come on, it won't hurt to try again."
The two walked to the door again and knocked. The door opened again and (Y/n) looked at them in silence.
