long chapter alert
Zayn was in the bathroom when he heard his phone ring. It was Harry.
He was in his car waiting for him outside of his complex. Before walking out of his apartment, he gave himself one last look in the mirror and decided to undo a few more buttons on his shirt, revealing some of the tattoos on his chest.
Zayn pushed his growing hair back and let it fall back naturally. He finally walked out of his apartment and began fidgeting with his watch as he approached Harry's car.
Man Harry never did disappoint Zayn. He opened the door and could see Harry smiling at him through the window. He was wearing sunglasses and his curly hair was defined as ever. He was wearing a white t-shirt and a dark blue blazer paired with black plaid slacks.
"Hello," Zayn greeted trying to mask his admiration for Harry.
"You smell good," Harry said smoothly as Zayn clicked the seatbelt in. Zayn thanked him while he looked at Harry who was just smiling cheekily.
This is not going to be easy, Zayn thought. Harry was just too beautiful.
Harry let down the sunroof of his car and blasted the radio before speeding to the restaurant. Zayn would usually be worried about his hair, but at the moment all that was occupying his mind was Harry's wide smile and distorted singing to the loud music.
The scenery was breathtaking. The sun was setting and the different lights were beginning to flourish. Zayn had been living in Los Angeles for a few years but he had never seen such mesmerizing sights and Harry's presence definitely had a role in that.
Zayn decided to sing along and have fun. He held his arms in the air feeling the wind hitting his skin, making it cold. He would occasionally turn to Harry and they would exchange the widest smiles and loudest laughs of pure joy.
Harry hadn't felt the happiness that makes one feel like they might explode of excitement in so long, the kind of happiness that one want time to stop and just be in the moment. But looking at Zayn's cheerful smile made him want to cancel the reservations and spend the night driving.
Which gave him an idea. As they slowed down at a red light, Harry turned down the music and looked over to Zayn who was just looking at the palm trees surrounding them.
"Zayn?" Harry asked. Zayn turned to him with a smile.
"What if I just cancel the reservations? We can just drive, wherever you want or we don't even need a destination. Let's just drive around, hm?" Harry proposed and he could see Zayn's eyes sparkle as he nodded.
"That sounds like a great idea, Harry." Zayn said.
Harry smiled as he turned the music up once more and as quickly as the light turned green Harry sped across the road with Zayn yelling into the night.
From Lost in Japan by Shawn Mendes to Sunday Best by Surfaces, all songs were played during their two-hour drive which continued with no end in sight. The sky was now dark and lit by the full moon and a plethora of bright stars. Finally Tattoos Together by Lauv was playing.
Zayn immediately turned it down while shaking his head.
"No, no, no," Zayn repeated and Harry turned to him in confusion.
"What's wrong?" Harry asked.
"This song was written for people like you and me, to pressure us to do things we could regret. I refuse to be tempted." Zayn said matter-of-factly. He was kidding for the most part but he wanted to see what Harry would say to the idea of them getting tattoos.
