my eyes fluttered open, before scrunching shut once again from the sunlight i was immediately met with.
i checked the time from the clock on my bedside table.
7:42 am.
i should start waking up by now.
jungkook and i talked for what seemed like hours last night after what he told me. i told him all about my life, my independence, how i manage to live all alone. he told me about the mafia, how he got into it, and how he wishes to start a normal life someday.
my eyes travelled to the body that lay beside my bed. jungkook was laying across the floor, a blanket covering him and a pillow resting underneath his head. he insisted on sleeping in my room instead of going to his own, saying that the floor seems nicer than a bed.

i pushed myself to my feet. i slid into some flip flops, before walking over to jungkook.
i crouched down beside him.
he looked so peaceful. his hair was tied into a small bun, which was my idea. his slightly rose-pigmented lips were ever so slightly parted. his chest rose and fell as he took in deep breaths. the sunlight from my window lightly illuminated his face, making him look as angelic as ever.
i really don't want to wake him up. but i promised jungkook yesterday that i'll wake him up with me so that he doesn't oversleep.
you gotta do what you gotta do, right?

i slightly and gently shook his body.
"wake up." i whispered.
after a couple attempts, his eyes sleepily fluttered open. jungkook's eyes immediately softened once he met mine.
"hi." his raspy voice spoke. a small smile crosses his lips as he stretched his arms out.
"i'm sorry for making you sleep on the floor." i chuckled a little.
we both began standing up. "no, it's okay. it was my idea anyways."
"want to go eat breakfast?" he asked, fixing his shirt.
i nodded, noticing how hungry i felt.

both me and jungkook began trudging downstairs, quietly to not wake up anyone.
i felt a sense of happiness rush over me when i spotted yoongi alone in the kitchen, pouring himself a cup of coffee.
"hey, shortie." i exclaimed, making my way to the sink. jungkook took a seat at the island table.
yoongi turned to face me. "you have no idea how much i hate you."
over the past few weeks, yoongi and i have grown very close. i truly consider him a close friend of mine.
he spotted jungkook, who somehow managed to steal the cup yoongi was previously filling.
"hey, it's been a while." yoongi acknowledged jungkook. jungkook just nodded at him.

"how have you been?" i asked yoongi, as i grabbed a pancake mix box from a cabinet, ready to make pancakes.
"could have been better, not gonna lie." he replied, now taking small sips from his second cup of coffee.
yoongi sat down one chair away from jungkook on the island. he ignored the side eye jungkook sent him.
me and yoongi made small talk as i prepared as many pancakes as i could. i divided all the pieces into three plates. soon enough, a plate of pancakes was placed in front of both yoongi and jungkook, as well as myself. yoongi thanked me before he drowned his pancakes in syrup and started eating. i expected a thank you from jungkook, but nothing.

okay?

i sat in between jungkook and yoongi, as it seemed like the chair was practically reserved for me. jungkook kept quiet, slowly chewing on his pancakes and avoiding any sort of eye contact with me.
"you okay?" i softly asked him, placing a hand on his back.
all i received was a barely noticeable nod.
he clearly isn't okay.
"don't worry about him. jungkook's hoe ass is always grumpy in the morning." yoongi commented, his mouth stuffed with pancakes.
i let out a small chuckle, playfully slapping yoongi's arm.
i looked back at jungkook. he was now staring at yoongi, pushing his inner cheek with his tongue.

he looked like he was about to kill him.

yoongi noticed this. he set down his fork and knife, and raised both his hands, surrendering. his cheeks were puffed up from the pancakes.
"hey, it's just a joke. he didn't mean to offend you." i slightly nudged jungkook's arm.
he looked at me. he looked as if he was about to say something spiteful, most likely towards yoongi, but stopped himself, and sighed instead.
"thanks for the pancakes, y/n." he sent me a soft smile.
he stood up without another word. he placed his empty plate in the sink, before leaving the kitchen. i heard his footsteps heading upstairs towards his room.

i looked towards yoongi. he seemed to be eyeing my pancakes quite suspiciously.
i pushed the plate towards him.
"oh, god bless your soul." he moaned. not thanking me, he grabbed his fork and began digging into the food, earning a slight laugh from me.

time skip

i knocked on jungkook's bedroom door. i heard his words of approval from inside. i opened the door, and slipped inside.
his room was simple for someone like him. the walls were painted in a dark grey color, matching the color of practically half of his room. his bed, desk, wardrobe, everything.
jungkook was sitting on the edge of his bed. he stood up once i entered the room.
he was wearing an oversized black hoodie, with baggy sweatpants.
"you needed me?" i asked.
jungkook walked closer to me. we were now standing at a normal proximity.

"i have a surprise for you." he tilted his head to the side, smirking at me.
"what is it?" i asked, feeling curiosity fill my entire body.
"you know how for her last few months, i've been training you to become a suited mafia member?"
i nodded. "what about it-"

"tomorrow, you will be having your first, official mission."
