Y/n is sitting in a car in the passenger seat, it's dark out. Someone else is in the car they can't see the other person's face. The other person is sitting in the drivers seat, and both Y/n's and the driver's hands are intertwined. He looks at Y/n and smiles, but their face is distorted. There's a crashing sound, and numbness—another car crashed into theirs—.
"Y/n!!"
That's the only thing she hears come from the strangers mouth as y/n begins to loose consciousness. The voice is distant, but familiar to Y/n's ears.
"Y/n!! Y/n!! If you don't wake up, you're going to be late for school!"
You jolt from bed, beads of sweat coat your forehead, your breathing is uneven and your heart is almost beating out of your chest. It was that dream again, the same dream you've had for as long as you can remember. It always happens around the same time too, you don't know how or why you dream such a weird scenario. Who's the guy in the car with you? Nothing makes sense.
"Y/n!!!"
Your mom's yelling brings you back to reality. You yawn, and look over your shoulder, the clock reads 7:38. You curse at yourself for waking up late, and get out of bed.
When you're ready, you walk down stairs— no one's home—. There was a note on the the table: Breakfast's in the microwave, just heat it up. I had to leave for work, see you later. You sighed, and decided to skip breakfast.
***
You had just made it in time for your first class, with 2 minutes to spare. You looked out the window, not caring about anything happening around you. The teacher walked in the room and greeted the students.
You couldn't get the dream out of your head. A feeling that something would happen in the upcoming days lingered inside you too. You pushed it aside for the time being and turned your attention back to the class. Calculus, Chemistry, History, P.E. Your first classes went by rapidly—half way done with school—. Thankfully the class that you looked forward the most was after lunch.
You sat at your regular lunch spot and waited for your best and only friend. They arrived shortly after, with a tray of food securely held by both of their hands in each side. They'd been your best friends since freshman year, you met in English class, when you'd forgotten to bring a pencil and they offered you one. They made their way over to you and sat down, instantly they began speaking.
"Y/n, something huge is happening. It's not something physical, but I can just feel it in the air."
Your friend has the reputation of joking all the time, but they're also very spiritual and serious about those kinds of things.
"I've been feeling weird today. I have a feeling that my life's about to change"
You sigh, letting your head fall into your hands.
"It's that dream again isn't it?"
You hummed an mhm in response, she's the only person who knows of your dreams, your parents are never home, you don't have siblings or any more friends. Your friend places a hand to the back of your head.
"I just don't know what it means, and why it's so reoccurring during these days specifically."
"Y/n, do you believe in past lives? and soulmates? Have you considered that maybe you've had a past life before and maybe the person in your dream was someone you knew in that life?"
Your gaze turned to your friend looking all serious. You've never thought about that, and in all honesty you weren't a believer of that kind of stuff, until a few years back when random things would happen that didn't have much explanation. All of that just sounds so strange to you. Shortly after, the bell rang. School was done and you went home.
***
When you got home, no one was there—of course—. You grabbed whatever you could find to eat and headed to your room. You spent all afternoon researching soulmates and past lives. Somehow, everything made sense: your dreams, the feeling that something will change your life. Your friend was right. By the time you stopped, you were tired. Your eyes closed slowly, it wasn't long before you were sound asleep.
Y/n was sitting inside the car, she knew too well. The strangers hand clasped around Y/n's. Everything all too familiar, Y/n knew exactly what was about too happen next. There it was again; the crash. Her body ached, but she knew it was a dream. The noise stopped along with the aching and her surroundings changed. She was at school. The strangers voice began echoing around Y/n.
"We'll see each other soon, I promise."
You woke up in a cold sweat, a stinging pain covered your limbs. You looked out your window and was greeted by darkness. Disoriented and confused, you directed your attention to your nightstand clock. 1:11. You touched your face to wipe the sweat, and noticed tears. You were crying, the sound of the voice brought a deep sadness to you. You embraced yourself and broke down. You wept, wishing you knew more. You couldn't sleep for the remainder of the night.
————————————A/N: I'm glad to announce I have returned, and bring this new little story. I'll keep this next part concise.
Something just didn't feel right, I wasn't in a good place. I'm trying to better my mental health and even though it's taking a while, it's improved drastically. Which made me want to write again. I hope to keep on writing constantly in the future!
