Katherines Pov

After the little shower incident, I quickly got dressed and decided to wait in the car for everyone else. Thankfully nobody bothered to ask any questions but every now and then, I'd catch Ashton or Alex glancing at me.

But they weren't the only ones staring at me with a worried expression on their face. I just rolled my eyes, I get what happened was a bit.. scary but I'm okay now.

I'm just happy they don't know what exactly was going on, they just know it was a flash back. If Alex finds out his marks triggered the memories, he'll be devastated and that's the last thing I want.

Few minutes later, we parked on the corner of the mansion. It looked deserted, there wasn't any cars or anyone walking outside or even standing by the entrance.

Ashton switches off the engine and gets out of the car, he unlocks all of our doors. We all get out and walk to the entrance, I was in front of everyone with Ashton besides me.

I stop in front of the doors and put my hand on the handle before twisting it and pushing it open. The mansion was abandoned, it looked brand new but it was empty.

There were however, evidence that someone was here before. Papers were scattered on the floor and some notes were hanging around.

I cursed underneath my breath as I plucked one of the pages off the wall. It was the only paper that had a neat handwriting on with some colors, there was a little flower in the corner as well.

"A fucking note? How old is Joey? Six!?" I shouted in annoyance

Everyone walked towards me as I read the note, a low growl escaping my lips. Once I was done reading it, I tore the page in half.

"Katherine what the fuck? How are we suppose to know what was written there?" Kelvin spoke, sounding a little frustrated

I turned my head in his direction, looking at him with a glare.

"I read the fucking letter before destroy it, I'm not dumb enough to break it without reading it asshole,"

"Tell us what it said." Ashton spoke up,taking a few steps closer to me

"It said, well done, he's happy we made it this far and it means Max gets to eat tonight.ㅡ" I gritted my teeth before continuing, "ㅡhe also said that he's hidden Amelia's parents somewhere in the forest behind this mansion. We can either find them alive or.."

The words were stuck in my throat, I bit down hard on my bottom lip drawing some blood.

"Dead." Ashton finished for me, I nodded

Amelia fell to her knees and Matthew quickly went to her side. Telling her everythings going to be okay and we'll find them alive.

I really hope we find them alive, I- I can't lose them too. Pauls been dead for a few months and I still haven't recovered from his death. Two more deaths will completely break me.

"Let's go Katherine! We don't have time to be dwelling on this."

Chase shouted as he ran out to the forest along with everyone else. I nodded before running after them.

For the first time in my life, I wanted to think positively. I wanted to believe that they're somewhere in this forest and they're alive.

If they're a little beaten up and bruised that's okay, I just want them aliveㅡ I need them to be alive.

We're all desperately searching the place behind the mansion, looking for them. Nobody is giving up until we find them, I promised to keep them safe and I meant it.

They protected me when they didn't need to. There was a day when someone broke into the house and tried to use me as a hostage.

Man, they were screaming and begging for the guy to let me go. Telling him that they'd give him anything he wants.

I looked at them in confusion, I could've easily taken the mans gun and kill him because his grip on the gun was horrible and he was hardly holding me. But Amelia's parents insisted on giving him the money, once they gave him what he wanted, he let me go.

They grabbed me and hugged me tightly, I told them that I could kill him if they wanted. Til this day, I still remember the way they hit my head and laughed. Telling me that I shouldn't do such dangerous things. They're always saying that I was too young to protect myself and they'd do it for me.

Man, they really are the best parents in the world.

"Oi! We found something!" Joshua yelled from behind a tree just a few meters away

Everyone ran towards him while I walked slowly, preparing myself for the worst but also trying to remain positive.

"Hi b-baby, are you a-and Kather-ine okay?" Amelia's mom, Jessica, asked softly

Her voice was hoarse and raspy, her skin was pale and she looked sick. They both did.

Amelia carefully hugged both her parents, not wanting to accidentally hug them.

I place a hand on my heart as I let out a shaky breath and my eyes sting with tears. Knowing that they're okay makes me feel at ease, it gives me hope.

"You just going to s-tand there? Hug me too." Amelia's dad, Jacob, says playfully as he slowly reaches his arms out

I chuckle while walking towards them, silent tears of happiness rolling down my cheeks.

They hugged us as tight as they could, I was surprised that they could even move. It looked like they'd been here for at least 2-3 days without any food.

Matthew handed them a bottle of water while helping them up. Alex stood next to Ashton, slightly cowering behind him. He seemed a little shy and nervous, he didn't know them which is why he's shy.

I'll be sure to introduce them later and I'll definitely be telling them about Max. They might have an idea as to where he's being kept.

Maybe they saw him once or twice before they left, I'm hoping that they'll be able to tell me where they were at least kept.

That would bring me a step closer into finding Max, I'll be able to bring him home sooner and finally be able to hug him. He'll probably reject my kisses because he's a 'big boy' now. The thought of him pushing me away playfully made me smile.

I miss him so much.

"We'll find him soon Katherine." Ashton said as he stood besides me

We were standing in front of the car, patiently waiting for everyone to get in. I nodded at Ashtons words and he ran his fingers through his hair.

"We will bring him home."

Indeed we will.
