Chapter 5: Unknown Juncture

Miki

They gathered in the long table matapos iyong sabihin ng babae.

Their space isn’t big nor small. I think it’s suitable for at least fifteen people. It looked cozy and formal at the same time in white and brown theme.

Yeah. I’m really in an elite school's student officers’ office.

While the cheerful girl in front of the white board remain her eyes fixed on me. She smiled wider when I looked at her.

Everybody looks comfortable now.

When they realized I stayed there, my face looking uninterested when the truth is I’m really confused being here, they just looked at me with fascination and indifference.

It was a moment of awkward silence as I stood there.
I probably looked dumb.

It’s a table I imagined suitable for a committee meeting.

Why am I even here? I looked so out of place.

“Ah hehe.

The way he smile is assuring yet uneasy.

Nanatili ang paningin ko sa lamesa. I am aware that everybody except that cheerful girl were throwing dagger looks on me.

Hindi ko sinadyang mapa angat ng tingin when the guy on the police station shifted on his seat. I stared at him as he placed his elbows in the table at humilig doon. He stared back at me.

The deafening silence and staring contest broke when the cheerful girl cleared her throat na dahilan upang mapalingon kami sa kaniya.

“Miki Ichida, right?” she asked for a confirmation.

Tumango lamang ako. She smiled and her eyes went somewhere else, sa mga papel na hawak niya habang nagsasalita.

“You’re probably confused why we invited you here. I’ll enlighten you with that later on after introducing the group to you. But before anything else, I want to you to know that everything we will discuss right now is confidential.”

Confidential?

In my peripheral view, I saw the tanned girl went inside the office mula sa pintuan.

“As you can see, we are Gunoja University’s school officers. But before that, we’re also a group. This is Jiro, the sergeant-at-arms, together with Raja.”

“Si Matthias, ang kaklase mo, the P.I.O.” She looked at the annoying guy beside me.
