Goodnight

The two dorks sat at Noah's kitchen table eating the Chinese take out that they ordered. Cody happily ate his dinner, seeming content with the whole situation. Noah on the other hand was a bit distracted with his thoughts and unconsciously stared hard at Cody.
'Why isn't he bothered about being away from his parents? From what I've heard they gave him everything he wants- spoil him. I mean, that sounds kinda nice right...?'
Noah furrowed his eyebrows and hovered a forkful of food in front of his mouth, as if he were about to eat it, but he was thinking too much to move.
And his eyes were still glued on Cody.
The other boy noticed and he self consciously wiped his lips with a napkin, knowing well that he is a messy eater. "Uh, Noah? Do I have something on my face...?"

Noah was pulled out of his thoughts and dropped his fork into his plate, "h-huh-? What- oh, no, you don't. Sorry, I guess I kinda drifted off there."
Cody hummed and raised an eyebrow, "is something wrong?"

Noah shook his head, "no...but, I guess I'm just curious as to why you're not bothered about the situation-? You seem so calm about it. Aren't your parents worried that you just left?"
Cody glanced down for a second and continued to look away until he shrugged and looked back at Noah, "haha, I doubt my parents care, really. I mean, they allowed me to leave with a suitcase and their money and didn't even ask where I was going. Then they began arguing because they both allowed me to leave...? I don't know, it's silly. They always look for reasons to be angry."
Noah faintly frowned. Wow, that sounds sad. Noah's parents would be extremely nosy about him if he were to choose to leave so abruptly. And as much as he wishes his parents would just keep their distance, he can imagine how lonely it must feel for Cody. Cody is much more sensitive.
Noah was about to say something until Cody spoke up again, "and honestly they argue so fucking much. Some nights they won't even let me sleep peacefully because their arguing is all I hear! The reasons they argue are usually so pointless."
Cody shrugged, "and I guess I wish they would pay attention to me once in a while. Sure, they can spoil me as much as they want but it's just not as good as genuine attention. They basically give me video games and money as replacements for affection."

With a small sigh, Cody stuck his fork back into his mouth.
Noah's frown deepened, wanting to so badly do something to make the boy feel better. But sadly, Noah isn't the very comforting type. Biting the inside of his lip, Noah fiddled with his fork.
"That sounds frustrating, I'm sorry your parents don't give you the attention you deserve. I can't say I relate, since my parents are extremely nosy and are always asking what I'm doing which I  usually do nothing. But I can imagine how lonely it must be to have such neglectful parents."

Cody nodded softly, taking in more mouthfuls of food with a thoughtful look.
Noah's frown faintly disappeared, a shy smile taking over, "but, Cody, you can always, Yknow...come to me when you need company- I mean, I'm usually doing nothing and my apartment is pretty spacious enough for two people."

Cody instantly perked up at this, a hopeful smile spreading across his pale face.
Fuck.
Noah would be lying if he said it didn't give him butterflies.
"Gosh, Noah- wow- thank you. So much. Honestly, I never really took you as the helpful type. I guess I was wrong. You're really sweet, yknow that?"

Noah's face heated up and he cursed himself mentally for the fact that he was having so much trouble keeping the redness in his cheeks to stop. He nervously laughed, "well, I would say I'm more of the sarcastic type, but thanks"

Cody giggled and the most fondest look that Noah has ever seen took over his face, "seriously, man. Thank you. I'm so glad you let me stay."

"Any time, gap."

Cody giggled again.
Noah swallowed thickly, wondering why that stupid little laugh kept making his stomach feel funny. Well, he did know why (he's not stupid), but oh dear, did he hope this was just something that'll go away soon.

Once they finished their food and had a very geeky conversation about video games and how Noah was some sort of god at them, it was time for some shut eye.
They both were oblivious of how much time went by, too distracted with their geeky subjects, and now were awake at 12 in the morning.

"Oh, wow, 12 already-"
Noah pointed out surprisingly.
Cody yawned, "no wonder I'm so sleepy-! Let me get my teeth brushed and my pajamas and I'm ready to pass out!"

Cody got his toothbrush and pajamas out of his suitcase and stopped mid track, "uh, where's the bathroom?"

Noah led Cody to the bathroom and they both brushed their teeth, getting rid of the taste of cheap Chinese takeout.
Cody finished brushing his teeth and began taking off his shirt, causing Noah to choke on his toothbrush in shock. He didn't know Cody was just gonna decide to change while they were both in the same small ass room-!
Cody gasped and stopped what he was doing, "woah-! What the heck? Are you okay?"
Noah coughed and nodded in pain, giving the other boy a thumbs up.

Once they both got ready, Cody laughed awkwardly, "where am I supposed to sleep?"
Noah hummed, "well, there's the sofa-?"

Cody slumped and pouted humorously, "aw, your sofa is kinda stiff. But I'll take what I can get!"

Noah bit the inside of his mouth, thinking about other options- well, his bed was big enough for two people...
"Uh...I guess we can share my bed...? I mean, if you're okay with that of course. Personally I like my space, thank you very much, but I'm okay with sharing for a few nights."
The pale boy grinned at him, "wow, really?? That sounds great, man!! It'll help us stay warm too, eh?"

"Don't push it"

Dumping the sofa idea, they made their way to Noah's room. Cody examines the room curiously, looking at the posters plastered on the pale walls and the book shelf packed with books. There was a game console near the TV, something Cody eyed for a while. There were also a bunch of other little things scattered around, such as plants and different types of finished rubix cubes.
Noah went straight to bed, already under the covers while Cody still stood in front of the door, "well, I'm gonna get some shut eye. You can get in whenever you want or whatever, just don't disturb my sleep for I relish these precious moments of nothingness"
Cody snorted at Noah's silly comment and turned off the lights as well as closing the door.
This made Noah feel a sudden wave of nervousness.
Shit.
Cody is gonna be in the same bed as him.

He felt the bed dip under Cody's weight and heard the shuffling of sheets next to him.
Once Cody got under all the blankets, Noah could literally feel the heat radiating from the other. It was oddly comforting, but also nerve wrecking.
Ah yes, gay panic.

"I know you told me not to disturb you, but I just gotta say it again. I'm seriously very thankful that you're letting me stay with you. Thank you, Noah."

"Shush, you. You're welcome and all, but please keep your peep hole shut right now I'm trying to replenish my energy."

Cody chuckled, "alright, man. Goodnight, Noah."

"...goodnight, Cody"
