He was jealous of nature
Jealous of the peck of sunlight
On her rosy cheeks
Of the hug of wind
Given to her on peak
Of the songs of earth
That pat her to sleep
Of the secrets whispered
That the moon would keep
He was jealous of her smile
That warm, cozy, heartfelt smile
That lingering gaze he fantasized
That dainty flick of the eye
That twitch of the moonlight,
How in his heart,
pain and paradise rhymed
The meaning of being defined
In that little moment-- that crazy night
When his heart flew away like a kite
Into her lips' dark wintry skies
