"There's nothing I can really say.
I can't lie no more, I can't hide no more.
Got to be true to myself.
And it feels like I am just too close to love you.
So I'll be on my way.
You gave me more than I can return,
Yet there's oh so much that you deserve.
Nothing to say, nothing to do,
I've nothing to give.
I must leave without you"
Too Close, by Alex Clare
I had done the unthinkable.
So I ran, blindly, I fled from her house as if the devil was on my heels. I sprinted to my car and sped away with screeching tires.
I was desperate to put some distance between her and me and I needed to find someone to feed on – otherwise I would probably hurt her seriously.
What the hell was wrong with me?
Where had my control gone?
I had almost bitten her and I could've killed her!
Usually, my control was excellent. What was different this time?
While my thoughts rambled on by their own, I drove aimlessly like a madman until I hit a highway.
My emotions were running high. Guilt, and partly shame, pent up inside me, and I knew how this usually ended – in a bloodbath!

Hiding behind trees, I crept closer to the camping ground and suddenly noticed two women in the dusk. They followed a rivulet and carried a bucket. One of them laughed at something the other had said and pointed into the shrubs. While one of them stayed near the water, the other searched for something at some distance from her friend.
Maybe she needed to pee? I didn't care. Creeping up on the woman in the shrubs, I caught her and prevented her from screaming by clamping my hand tightly over her mouth.
"Keep still!" I hissed into her ear.
Then I compelled her and fed on her blood until her heart beat slower and slower. Fortunately for her, I still had enough presence of mind not to drain her completely and stopped, closing her wound with a few drops of my blood.
"You don't remember anything. You fell asleep against this tree and just woke up," I compelled her again, holding her gaze.
Then I bolted back to my car, pulled out and drove like crazy through the night and into the next state.
I didn't look back, and I didn't know if she still wanted to see me.
A significant part of my conscience said it was all my fault and that she would never forgive me.
So I kept running...
