My hands trembled as I stared down at my phone screen. I knew what I was signing up for when I began dating a hero a year ago... but I thought he would be different. As my eyes began to blur I watched as a large tear splashed down on the screen.
Quickly I push my phone into my back pocket and wiped my eyes with my loose coat sleeve. How could I have been so careless with my heart? Just opened it up completely to a guy who was secretly dating someone else... Haruto and I were perfect, or at least I thought until I caught him with someone else. At this point, I could not stop the tears from rolling down my face as I forced myself to walk. I felt like such a fool. When I saw him with her... I had no words, I kept this all to myself and it took Haruto a full day to try and get in contact with me.
Now that it's officially over I really didn't know how to feel. My feet continued to beat against the hard concrete as my mind flooded with what-ifs and the embarrassment I was about to feel having to tell all my friends at the birthday party tomorrow. Haruto had been there for everything the past few years and I would always make excuses for why he would miss certain things... It all made sense now. I felt like my world was spinning. Without thinking I hastily turned the corner of the block and slammed into a large figure.
"WHAT THE HELL! Watch where you're going?!"
"S-sorry sir-" I stumble not wanting to make eye contact with the guy. I already knew I looked like a mess from crying and my mascara was probably running. Instantly I turned to move around him before I felt a hand on my arm.
"Hey sorry, I didn't mean to - erm .. did I fucking hurt you or something?"
My eyes trailed up the tall figures frame until my eyes met his dark red orbs. Instantly my face began to burn with embarrassment. A slight smile crept up the side of his face as he stared down at me.
"Oh no, I'm totally fine"
"Well based on the tears I know your lying" he scoffed as he kept his gaze.
"No worries.. really, it was nothing you did ... I promise... "
The guy nodded his head before looking down at his hand still placed on my arm. Quickly he pulled away as a slight blush covered his face causing me to giggle.
"erm my bad"
I wiped my eyes again as I smiled up in a reassuring way at the stranger.
"So what's your name anyway?"
My eyebrows raised at this character's brass personality before speaking up.
"Its Ami, what about you?"
"Bakugou, you know I'm actually on my way to meet some friends if you want to join?" his blush deepened as he averted his eyes, "I mean if you want or whatever".
"I am actually on my way back home... I got a lot on my mind at the moment... but I'll probably see you around?"
"Yeah yeah I get it," he chuckled giving me a sarcastic eye roll," I just moved into this part of town actually so I guarantee well run into each other at some point."
I nodded, "Well... it was nice meeting you," as I began walking around him, "bye."
I waved walking backward as he turned around to give a slight wave in my direction as he watched me go. Maybe Haruto breaking up with me was a good thing after all if it means I'll be bumping into good looking guys like that...
Later that day as I was wandering around my house, Bakugou quickly popped back into my mind. For whatever reason, I sat and pondered his smile for the next hour... How could some random stranger have that much of a pull? He was so kind to make sure I was ok...
Wait what is wrong with me... This is a complete stranger after all.
Plopping down on my couch as I pull my laptop onto my stomach. Without thinking I type his name into the search bar on Facebook and am overwhelmed with the first picture being that smile.
Katsuki Bakugou
There was no stopping me now as I click onto the profile. Instantly I am taking to his page filled with pictures and posts. As I clicked through the multiple pictures I couldn't help the smile spreading on my face.
He looked so happy standing amongst his friends. There were group pictures, individual pictures, and ones with his family. I felt like the biggest creep, but my fingers continued clicking through until my cell phone began to ring.
Picking up the thin smartphone I saw it was my friend Kattie. Hitting the accept button I slowly bring the device to my ear.
"AMI! Finally, I feel like I haven't heard from you in a few days!"
Kattie was one of those friends who constantly needed to text and call to know you were still there and still her friend.
"Yes Kattie I'm alive don't you worry" I chuckled already seeing her crazed expression.
"I heard what happened... with you know who... Are you ok?"
I felt my face drop at the acknowledgment of him. I guess word travels fast, especially when you're dating a pro hero...
"How did you hear about this?"
"I'm so sorry Ami... I saw his new girlfriend in the news this morning...."
My heart sank for the second time today thinking about how he was texting me earlier when all along he was with his new girlfriend... I thought I was going to be sick.
"Ami? You there?"
"Y-yeah, I'm here. Sorry.."
"Don't be sorry he's an absolute jerk and he doesn't deserve you!"
"Yeah, I uh... I think I'm done dating the pro hero types now..."
"That may be hard friend haha! All the hottest guys are heroes!"
She had a point, but there was no way I was going to fall into this trap again.
"Are you still coming to my party tomorrow? I obviously uninvited Haruto."
"Of course! I cannot wait to see you all! I really need a night out."
"Perfect, it starts at 7, but obviously come by earlier."
"Sounds good. I'll see you then"
"It will definitely be a memorable night!"
Laying there staring at my computer screen I wasn't exactly sure what she meant by that, but I soon would.
