By now everyone was tipsy, some more than others. Kattie was on Denki's shoulders yelling the Happy birthday song to everyone as they cheered it back. Kirishima and Margaret had gotten ahold of some streamers and they were throwing them around as the cheering continued. I couldn't stop laughing as I watched them. I was so surprised to see all of these strangers get along so well. There was something about tonight that was different. Feeling a hand on my lower back caused me to straighten up as I slowly turned to see Bakugou smiling down at me.
His eyes seemed a darker hue than before and his eyelids were slightly lower. It was probably from drinking, but it was so attractive to me. I had lost count of how many drinks we all had and what number of shots we took. I was feeling the liquor pulse through my veins as I took hold of his hand giving it a gentle squeeze.
"Thanks for everything," I said which made him smile before leaning in closer. His hand rested gently on my cheek as his fingers combed through my hair pulling it back behind my shoulder. I hadn't realized how large his hand was until it was in comparison to the side of my face. I tensed from the sudden closeness.
"The nights not over yet Smiles... were just getting started," my whole body vibrated. I wanted him to kiss me right then, but I knew that was the alcohol talking. It would be so bad to kiss someone so fast after just meeting them... Wouldn't it?
I stared into his deep eyes for a while. It was like we were playing a game... we both waited anxiously for the other to make the first move. I stepped in closing the gap between us a bit more which visibly effected Bakugou as he straightened up a bit but still flashed his cocky smile. I lifted my hands and gently ran my fingers across the dark buttons that lined the center of his chest. He inhaled deeply turning his head slightly to the left closing the space between us even more. We were inches from each other's face at this point and I could feel Bakugou's hands gently pressed onto my hips and lower back.
"Ami?"
My head jolted to the side where the familiar voice came from. I already knew who it was.
"Hey.." Haruto's eyes looked at me then slowly moved over to Bakugou's as his eye brow raised slightly, "Hey Bakugou.."
How did they even know each other? I was so confused as I looked up at Bakugou then back at Haruto before stepping back.
"I- uh didn't think you were still coming..." I felt my voice shake which made me mad. I didn't want him to have power over me. But his puppy-eyed girlfriend stood beside him staring like we were some charity case.
"I wasn't, but then I thought I should stop by. Kattie was my friend too you know." Haruto's words were harsh as he looked back up intently at Bakugou. I couldn't tell who Haruto was mad at more, me or him. Bakugou just stared back without saying a word. It was clear they knew each other, but I still was unsure how. By now Margaret and Kattie were beside me as Denki and Kirishima stood back.
I felt Kattie's hand on my shoulder protectively before she spoke up, "Haruto... I told you it would be best not to come tonight remember?" Kattie's eyes looked over at Haruto then his new girlfriend waiting for a response.
"This is all bullshit! I came here to be a good fucking friend and have a good time, but here's Ami cozying up to this tool anyways. So who the hell cares if I'm here or not!" Haruto was now yelling as heads turned around and whispers grew.
Bakugou was now stepping forward, "no need to get out of hand, I think it's best you go Haruto..."
"Don't tell me what to fucking do Bakugou! Especially when you're getting my sloppy seconds... Do you even know this guy Ami?"
I felt a pang to my chest as I looked over at Bakugou who was now stepping between us standing over Haruto. Bakugou was significantly taller than Haruto. I noticed his jaw clench when Haruto began to talk about him, they clearly had a history but this was not the time and place to ask about it.
"I'm not going to tell you again Haruto..." Bakugou's voice was a low growl that even made me nervous as Haruto scoffed.
"Whatever. You all can go fuck yourself," Haruto snorted before pushed his shoulder against Bakugou's side as he passed, "Enjoy my sloppy seconds Bakugou."
Out of everything Haruto has done, that hurt me the most. I felt sick watching his wide grin as he passed. I know he truly didn't mean that and was just trying to get under Bakugou's skin but he didn't have to drag me into it. Bakugou's fist clenched as he turned around to face Haruto's back as he walked. It was obvious by Bakugou's expression that it was clearly the wrong thing to say to him. Before I could blink Bakugou's hand quickly grabbed hold of Haruto's shoulder turning him around and slugged him in the jaw. Everyone around us gasped as Haruto brought a hand to his cheek staring back at Bakugou. The two quickly started going at it as Denki and Kirishima jumped in to break it up. Kirishima finally pulled Bakugou off of Haruto as Denki got ahold of Haruto.
"You all need to get out of here before I call the cops!" One of the bartenders was yelling over the counter. Haruto shook Denki off of him before grabbing hold of his girlfriend.
"No worries, were already leaving.." Haruto said walking past me. His face was visibly swollen and beat as he turned to face me, "I never expected for you to jump onto the first guy you meet... real class act Ami..." I stood there frozen for a minute. I couldn't even swallow because my mouth had become do dry.
"Don't listen to him Ami, he's being a jerk," Margaret said. I nodded still unable to talk as Denki and Kirishima helped Bakugou. I stared intently at him unsure of how I was feeling. Did Bakugou now think of me like some loose girl? The boys made their way towards us as Bakugou stood silently.
"That guy is the complete opposite of a man..." Kirishima spoke up to break the silence. My eyes connected with Bakugou's which only made me feel worse. He had an expression that I couldn't really read as my eyes looked down to the floor. Kattie led the way out with Denki as everyone followed behind. I staggered back as the ground below me began to blur from the tears filling my eyes.
"A-Ami... please don't be upset. He will never come around us ever again," Kattie said. I looked up to see Margaret standing beside her with a sympathetic expression while the boys stood close by talking quietly amongst each other. I nodded my head in response.
"I'm sorry I ruined your party..."
"Don't say that! I had the best time. Let's just forget this ever happened ok? He isn't going to ruin our night," Kattie said giving me a half-smile.
"Yeah, forget it, Ami. Nothing he said about you is true, he's clearly jealous, " Margaret said as I nodded along, "Denki said he would give us all a ride home if you want?"
"No, I think I'm just going to walk home it's only a few blocks anyways... thanks though.." I sigh as the rest of the boys make their way towards us.
"Ok, well text us when you make it home safe," Kattie said softly.
"Of course," I sigh looking back up at the group. Bakugou's eyes seemed to hurt as he stared back into mine. His face was a bit cut up but he managed to crack a half-smile at me. It was as if he was talking with his eyes, seeing if I was ok as I flash him a smile back before giving everyone a wave and turning the other way.
"Hey, Ami!" My head turns back around to see Bakugou stepping forward, "Can I walk you home? I- erm don't want you walking home alone at this hour..." I look past to see everyone else beaming with big smiles like a bunch of weirdos. My eyes drift back up to Bakugou's as he waited for my response, "I mean if you want me too..." as a blush covered his beaten face which made me smile.
"Sure" I felt butterflies in my stomach before we both walked side by side down the street.
