As the night progressed everyone completely lost track of time. My head was growing foggier and foggier as the music continued to thump loudly in my chest. At this point, Bakugou had already brought over a few of his friends and we all pretty much stayed together for the remainder of the night. The drinks continued and everyone was really enjoying themselves, between side conversations and random dances every so often I would catch Bakugou sneaking a glimpse.
It was as if he never cared that he was caught though. He would just laugh it off and continue on with what he was doing. I had never felt so much tension between someone in my life. I wasn't sure if it was the alcohol or my need for affection right now, but I was mesmerized. He just oozed confidence and he was eyeing me, the random girl he bumped into now twice.
We had all been standing in a circle and listening to each other's stories, but my eyes continued to trail back to Bakugou's. It was like a game only he and I were playing. Finally, I built up the courage to get closer to him. Once he noticed I was approaching that half-smile returned back to his face causing me to giggle. He felt so comfortable to me like I had known him forever.
"How you feeling?" He chuckled
"Pretty great actually" I smiled big at him. I wasn't too sure if he was drunk but a slight blush spread across his cheeks, "What is it? Do I have something on my face?" I quickly cover my face embarrassed. Almost as soon as my hands covered my face I felt his hands pull mine away.
"No, that's not it you weirdo"
I cocked my head in confusion which made his smile grow, "then what is it?"
"You're just really cute when you smile..."
Now I knew he was blushing as my heartbeat quickened.
"Don't let it go to your head or whatever" Bakugou crossed his arms and rolled his eyes sarcastically.
"Oh shut it!" I laugh punching his side which surprised him. Playfully, he squinted his eyes at me.
"Could you guys stop flirting in front of us already!" Bakugou's blonde friend named Denki said before taking a pull of his drink. He and another friend named Kirishima quickly found him not long ago and seemed to be mesmerized by Kattie and Margaret. So much so that they made no objection to leaving.
"Sorry about our unmanly friend ladies, he just gets jealous sometimes since he can't get a girl," Kirishima sighed. Denki flipped him off before taking another sip.
"Why don't the both of you just shut up" Bakugou growled causing everyone to bust out laughing.
I was too wrapped up in the fun I didn't even notice Kattie was trying to get my attention about something. My eyes finally met her panic-filled ones as she mouthed, don't turn around.
Naturally, when someone tells you to not turn around you will do the complete opposite. So my dumb self did just that. I instantly regretted it.
Stood only inches from me was Haruto... and his new girlfriend by the looks of it. I had no strong idea of what she looked like until now. Her long flowing strawberry blonde hair blew in the wind as she laughed without care holding onto his arm. They both hadn't noticed me staring, but someone else did.
"Do you know those two?" Bakugou said quietly so the others couldn't hear.
Looking up at him I nodded not wanting to say anything more. He stared intently at me without saying a word. It was as if we had a conversation with only our eyes like he already understood something wasn't right. I turned my body around to face the group again, but Bakugou kept his gaze down on me.
"I told him he was uninvited Ami, I promise..."
"No, I believe you I do. Don't worry about it. We are friends and all...." those last few words trailed out because I even knew that wasn't true because a friend wouldn't rub something like this in their face. A friend wouldn't bring their new girlfriend they cheated on you with to a party filled with your mutual friends. It was mortifying, but the only thing I thought to do was fake a smile and continue drinking.
"A round of drinks?" I say with a crooked smile that caused everyone to furrow their brows a bit in confusion.
"Sure Ami!" Denki slurred and I was so thankful for his hyper nature that helped buffer out this weird situation.
I quickly turn around to make my way to the bar and felt Bakugou behind me. He stayed close helping me move through the crowd until we reached the edge of the bar. We didn't speak the whole way until after I ordered everyone's drinks.
"So are you going to tell me what's going on?" Bakugou said softly in my ear as I stared intently straight ahead. The world around me blurred a bit because my eyes were filling with tears, I feared if I blinked now they would all fall.
"Ami?" Bakugou turned me a bit which caused me to blink hard as two large tears rolled down my face.
"I- I'm... shit, I hope I didn't cause this?"
"No, you did absolutely nothing wrong Bakugou... I'm having a great time with you... it's just-"
"Did you date that guy?"
I jolt from the immediate question before nodding my head. Bakugou stared down at me clearly knowing how much this upset me. He didn't press any further, he just rested a hand on my shoulder before leaning down to meet my gaze.
"Then let's forget about that loser, you said you're having fun with me... why let some fucking ass hat ruin that?" I smiled from his words, he was so rough and his choice of words was almost comical, "See! Fuck that guy! Now let's keep having fun because...." he took in a breath before a soft smile spread across his tanned face, "I'm so happy I ran into you again, smiles.."
The bartender behind me set down the next round of drink making a clinking noise as the glass hit the table. It caused my attention to leave Bakugou's crimson eyes as I turned to face her.
"Can I add a few shots to this order?" I say without hesitation.
"Certainly sweetie," the blonde bartender said before rushing off. I turned up to look at Bakugou who had his eyebrows raised in excitement before the small glasses were set down on the tray in front of us.
"There you go kids, thanks so much!"
Bakugou took hold of two of the drinks handing me one.
"Before we go back let's have one, just for us" a devilish grin painted his face which made me weak. I nodded taking hold of the drink before we threw back the strong drink. I felt my eyes water a bit but it was the kick I needed. Bakugou was right, why would I let Haruto ruin my night. Especially when I had someone like this here with me...
