Around her the world is unclear.
The chatter that surrounds her,
Remains unfamiliar to the ears.
Those faces, just a blur.
People that surround her,
Just strangers to her.
Never had she felt so alone, so empty.
Her mother's words echoed in her mind.
'You are surrounded by friends,
If only you choose to open your eyes and see.'
Air filled her lungs,
Just as she closed her eyes.
She slowly let go of the rope that kept her tied down,
A rope of loneliness and self hate.
One that had become so familiar to her
In this foreign land.
She let go of the breath she was holding
And opened her eyes to truly see the world around.
The dark unclear world had faded,
In its place was one which bursted with joy and colour.
The muffled unfamiliar chatter disappeared as the imaginary ear muffs fell away,
It became clearer and familiar laughter rang in her ears.
Those strangers that surrounded her had familiar smiling faces.
They accepted her just as she was.
They weren't her real enemies, her thoughts were.
The world is different, only if you choose to see.
So unwrap that blindfold and break free from those chains
To see the mesmerizing beauty of the world that surrounds you,
And enjoy freedom, Your Freedom!
