The kiss was meant nothing.
That line stuck in my mind for the past few days.. maybe I should forget him, maybe the feeling that I felt only infatuation too, I've even already been rejected by him again dan again, and what's the point to keep telling him that I like him, that's just useless, but I don't know what's happen then.. why so hard to forget then.. I've try to avoiding him after the barbeque party, not even text or call him again, even I still see that he keep doing his job and barely not talking to me, and I haven't any nerve to look at him while I'm passing by at home. Pretty much I even spent my time in my room and don't feeling wanna go out anywhere else.
"Hey!!! Oh my Goshhhh! Are you listening me or not?" Jay press both of my cheek to look at him.
"Yeah?" I'm not even listening what just he said to me.
"Yeah??? What did I said?" I give him my best smile then.
"Okay.. I will repeat again but I will not repeat again if you won't focus and listening what I said." I nodded, okay stop doing daydreaming Hailey, have to focus and go back to work.
"So, you have to share one of your thoughts with the kids who was staying in that Foster place. This kind of a charity. First you have to decided how much that you're willing to give so I can prepare the check and for it and we might be spend whole day in there, and after that I give you free time to do anything you want to do okay? And we gonna having pool party tonight at hotel."
"Okay Captain."
I'm stopping on my step while get out from the airport because I see him open the back door for me. Suddenly I crane my head looking another way. Where is Dylan? Why he's replacing Dylan to escort me? Lucky that Jay still can stop talking about anything, otherwise it's gonna be awkward between me and him. We go straight to the foster place. I keep focus on the data that Jay give it to me, so I know all information about this place and also for the charity.
We make our way from the car inside the park where all the kids and also many people gather there. I see two pair of eyes still glued on me but I pretend not to realized it, even my heartbeats betray me inside but no one know that, only myself.
I tried to focus and give the speech and talking with all the people there. There's also another public figure that held this charity, and most of them also put an effort to support financially and non financially for this foster place.
"Thank you for the donation Hailey, that's means a lot for us." Said Maria one of the one that in charge in this foster place.
"No.. I'm really happy to contribute in this charity. I hope-"
"Sorry Maria and Hailey to interrupt, but.. but Carlo refuse to get in again and he tried to escape again." One of the employee coming and reach us.
"Sorry Hailey but I need to excuse myself."
"No, that's okay.. Is it okay If I'm coming with you? I think they all also busy with conversation? Maybe I can help?"
"Ummm really sorry about this.. He's always do this since the day he was coming here 2 years ago, and he tried to escape in many ways."
"Sorry to hear that, is that something happen that make him wanna escape from this foster place?" We stride to get to the place and meet this boy.
"Yeah.. Their parents has been passed away two years ago in a car accidents. While at that time, he was left behind at home. There's no other family to take care of him, that's why he had to be here, but since that day of the funeral, he refuse to talk, not even said any word. The only thing he do while he arrived in here was trying to escape many many times."
By the time we arrived at the back yard, far from the commotion of the charity that being held, I see a young boy looking down and standing there with the other staff held his shoulder.
"Carlo, hey, what happen?" and suddenly he ran away and not far away climb the tree nearby. We tried to chase him but end up underneath the tree.
"Okay, I let you have your time. I give you time until 7pm and you have to get down for dinner okay?" Maria said and look at me.
"Let's go."
"Why you let him be up there?"
"He will get down as I said to have dinner with us. Let him then."
"May I?" Maria and the other staff questioning me.
"Can you guys leave me alone and I wanna try to talk with him?" I asked.
"I'll be okay, don't worry." I reassure them.
They start looking each other and nodded as let me talk with him. I was waiting till I was only the one standing underneath the tree.
"Hey Carlo." I call him and He crane his head to look another side. Okay this not gonna work then.
What should I do then? Lucky that I use a pants but heels? Okay just take this off. I take off my heels and start climbing the tree. Okay, I'm not really expert for climbing but at least I tried to get on the branch behind him. I poke him and he look at me while I smile and wave my hand.
"Hi.. I'm Hailey.. and you?" I give him my hand but he just give me his back again.
"Carlo.. is it your name? what a beautiful name.." he remind quiet.
"Carlo.. can I tell you stories? Story about one little girl that being alone after her mother and her sister going very very far away to the place that the little girl can't even reach.. I never told this story to anyone, so you'll be the first one that know this story." He's still quiet but I know he's listening me.
I take a breath before I start talking...
