BUT YOU CAN'T HIDE

It's been two weeks since my mom's funeral and the incident with Chris and so far I've tried my best to avoid him which has been really hard for me to do considering the fact that Dexter and kady are always together these days.
Yup you heard right.
Turns out, on the day of the funeral Dexter saw her heading out alone and decided to go with her and in the car on their way back he confessed his feelings for her.
I Know ... I know pretty cute right?
Yeah.
So even Dexter went to my mom's funeral and not me.
Today I rushed through my usual routine because I was late and didn't bother to tip toe past Chris's door cause that would take too much time.
I was right in front of his door when it opened. I sighed and mentally face palmed myself.
I just said a quick and awkward hello and started walking again.
When he said "listen Carrie we need to talk"
I stopped in my tracks and tucked a few strands of hair behind my ear and said without looking at him
"um I would love to but I'm late for my class"
"Okay then let me drive you. we're going to the same place anyways"
He smiled and started twirling his keys.
His smile always made me feel good inside
Uh why am I thinking that
I'm angry at him and I need to stick to the anger.
I checked my watch and weighed in my mind how much time it would save to go with him and I decided that getting to class in time is more important than whatever is going on between us.
"I don't know..."
"Oh come on Carrie let's go I'm late too"
He started walking downstairs to where his car was parked and I followed him quietly.
When we reached his black BMW I couldn't help but stare.
I didn't expect it to be a BMW really.
"Well what are you waiting for? Get in"
I quickly recovered and got in the car careful not to touch anything expensive looking.
We started our quiet drive to the school and I really hoped he wouldn't say anything to make this more awkward than it already was.
"So where have been? I haven't see you in weeks now"
You mean you haven't seen me since the party when you had insulted me all but calling me clout chaser.
"Yeah I've just been busy" was all I said.
He nodded probably trying to figure out what to say next.
"So dexter and kady uh?" He said after a moment of silence.
"Yeah yeah"
"Are they dating?"
"Nah. Kady said they're just trying to see where it goes" I said with air qoutes "whatever that means"
Now this made Chris laugh and I couldn't help but notice how contagious his laugh is cause in seconds I was also laughing.
When we finally stopped laughing the silence continued until he said "listen Carrie I want to say how sorry I am for all the horrible stuffs I said to you at the party"
I didn't say anything and he didn't push it further
When we finally reached the school I got out and started hurrying to my class but then I stopped because something inside told me too and I went back to Chris and said "I'm sorry too"
"For what?"
"Avoiding you for the past two weeks"
"So are we cool?" He stretched out his hand for a shake and ran the other through his thick hair.
"Yes we're cool" and I shook the hand firmly before practically sprinting to class.

Chris's POV,
To be honest I don't have any classes today.
I just said that so she would let me drop her off and give me an opportunity to apologise.
And no I don't like her but Dexter said I have to apologise cause I was wrong to insult her but I know the real reason he wanted me to apologise is because of kady.
But it doesn't matter why, Dexter is my best friend so I had to apologise.
Now I was headed back home when I saw a sign saying their was a new skate park about 15 minutes away.
Well me being me I just couldn't resist. I always carry my skateboard sumo every where and I've been skating since I was old enough to say skate.
I turned in the direction the sign was pointing to and I was there in about ten minutes.
I went to the trunk and took out sumo.
"Hello sumo I missed you alot did you miss me too"
I know I sound crazy talking to my skateboard but he's my best friend just don't tell dexter that.
I saw that the park was partly empty.
Only about fifteen people were here and just five seemed to be skating.
After about thirty minutes of skating I decided to go to the experts section where no one was.
I started skating doing some jumps and flips and soon I was surrounded by people making videos.
So why not give the people what they want.
I did some more dangerous stunts and after a while I was tired so I stopped and they started applauding.
As I was about to leave ,after taking more than fifty selfies with some girls, a stout man came up to me and introduced himself
"Hello my name is Sean and I'm the owner slash manager of this place"
"Nice to meet you Sir I'm Chris" I tried not to sound snappy but I was really tired "what can I help you with?"
"Well I saw your tricks and you're really good and I heard from one of the girls that you're online famous and I'd like you to be the face of my skate park"
I was intrigued with this "really? I would love too"
"Okay here's my card" he stretched out his card to me "give me a call so we can agree on a price then you can come in for a shoot"
"Okay thank you sir"
"Oh please call me sean"
"Okay thank you Sean"
"Don't mention it"
I got back in my car and went home.
Back at the apartment Dexter was no where to be found which was not surprising.
He's probably with kady somewhere.
Since Dexter is not here I just poured myself a bowl of cereal and posted some of the pictures I took at the skatepark then went to my room to make a tiktok video.
By the time I was done making and editing it Dexter sauntered in through the front door.
"Dexter where have you been?"
"I was at kady's" he sat on the couch and took out his phone probably to text kady again.
Not that I'm jealous or anything but ever since kady and Dexter started their relationship he has no time for me.
