I woke up slowly and noticed that the pain in my cheek had subsided. I opened my eyes and discovered my right eye couldn't open, unsurprising though. I took in what I could and realized I was in the infirmary. Niles must have brought me here, I thought.
My jacket was hanging on the poles on the pole of the bed. "Madam Merta?" I called.
Merta came bustling out of her office and towards me. "How do you feel dear?" She asked placing her plump hand on my forehead.
"Fine, can I go? I'm sure Elisa is wondering where I am. And Anne." I said with a pleading look.
Madam Merta pursed her lips. "Alright, but if you feel pain anywhere, come to me, you hear?"
I nodded and smiled slightly. "Off you go then." She said pointing toward the door.
I quickly got off the bed and grabbed my jacket before scampering from the infirmary. On my walk to my room guards and servants alike gave me odd looks. I tried to keep my head down until I came through my door.
I laid down on my bed and sighed. Anne wasn't there and Elisa was napping. I looked around my large bed quarters. The desk across the room was made from oak, it was beautiful and grand. There was a fire place next to it across from my bed, next to my bed was a bed-side table. My closet was on the left side of my desk, inside the closet was a bathing room. Finally on the wall where the door was, was a vanity.
I sighed and started playing the canopy over my bed idly. The sleeve of my shirt slid down revealing the marks the stretched from almost my shoulder down to just past my inner elbow. I stared at it for a moment before it started to itch. My brow furrowed, it never did have any activity to it unless it was stretching.
The longer I stared at the mark the more it started to itch...and glow. Worried that Elisa would wake up and see it I pulled my sleeve down praying for the itch to subside along with the glowing. After a long while it did and Anne had come into the room.
"Supper, my lady. We must get you dressed." I nodded not thinking about supper but more about what the mark was.

Dinner was tense and Father wouldn't look at me. Niles also was acting off, he kept glaring at Father and then looking at me with a pointedly worried expression. It was really quite irritating.
After supper was over and I was finally allowed to excuse myself I went straight to the library. When I got there I went to the medical books. I searched in them for a skin care book but was stumped. I was no closer to finding an answer than I was before.
I went for a walk in the castle instead of going back to my room. I needed a moment to think. The castle was very elaborate, hallways everywhere and about as many staircases. Secret rooms and halls were strategically placed throughout the castle. I myself knew at least fifteen, Niles says that he knows of twenty at the most.
I tried to stay on the halls where there were no guards, though it was hard as Father liked there to be guards on almost every hall. Soon walking around the castle staring at the same colored walls over and over got boring so I decided to make a little escape.
Taking the same path I took just earlier I went out to the stables. The stable boy was asleep on his hay so I saddled Winnie as quickly and quietly as possible. I put a two saddle bags on Winnie filled with oats for her and some carrots from the ice trough in the barn. I mounted her and eased her out of the stable.
"Let's go Winnie." I said tapping my heels to her side.

We rode for about three hours; we were in the mountains now. No one ever came this way though, because they say it's haunted with magic. Magic, I thought shaking my head. Is not a weapon. It's a tool.
