I paced in my chamber for a couple of minutes worried sick. I had gone to Rosa's room to talk to her about what had happened but she wasn't there. I asked Madam Merta if she had seen Rose but she hadn't.
I looked everywhere for her. Her chambers, the library, the kitchen, and the stables. She wasn't anywhere. However, Winnie was missing. That meant she went out riding despite what our father said to her.
I had tidied up the main part of my room without realizing it, just to have something to do. Thoughts swirled in my mind making me dizzy. Which wasn't what I needed since I was already frantic about my sister.
I still couldn't believe what she had to go through. She was the Dragoness. She had to be. That's what the book said. 'The marks belong to the chosen one. The Dragoness.' But that couldn't be true could it?
No one has heard of the Dragoness for a very long time. They claim that last century, after the war, the Dragoness hunter was killed. Therefore there would never be another Dragoness.
But what so many didn't understand was, there had to be a Dragoness. There always had to be one. At least that's what Mother said. And she knew things.
Mother knew something like this would happen to Rose. She had to. That had to be why she left me the book. So I would know what to do. But Rosalie was gone. I didn't know what to do. I wouldn't be able to help her if she didn't come back.

Rosalie:
I rolled over and my hand touched something warm but hard. It had an odd texture, kind of like a fish, but harder.
With a gasp, my eyes flew open and I was immediately granted with a pair of large golden eyes. I screamed and jerked back. The thing I was touching was the dragon's nose. Her very warm and scaly nose.
The big beast in front of me cocked her beautiful purple head and laughed. It sounded like rocks rubbing together but it was still a laugh.
"You are the Dragoness, young one. What is your name?" The dragon asked.
"I-I-I'm R-Ro-Rosalie." I stuttered, still scared.
"I am Alanie. I am your dragon." She told me, laying down like a cat.
I frowned and moved so I could see Alanie's face. "How do you know that I am the Dragoness and that you are my dragon?"
Alanie smiled at me and moved so I could see the side her neck. On it was a pattern very similar to my own. I gasped and stepped closer to examine it.
"Put your arm against it." Alanie instructed me.
I put the marks on the inside of my arm against the ones on Alanie's neck. Alanie's glowed red while my glowed blue making a purple light. It didn't hurt, which surprised me.
"What...?" I asked not knowing how to ask the question that was burning in my mind.
"Get on." Alanie said. Without thinking I climbed onto Alanie. I sat at the base of her neck. I was glad I wore my pants so I didn't have to worry about being uncomfortable in a dress.
Once I was situated I pat Alanie; she stood and walked out of the cave. Once out she spread he massive wings and took off.
The adrenaline immediately started racing through my veins. I looked down and saw Winnie neighing and crying as Alanie flew over her, but all I could do was laugh. It was amazing!
We flew up into the clouds and circled above the castle. Thankfully we were up high enough that no one down there would have been able to see us.
"The marks on your arm and my neck are a bond. They help us trust each other completely even though we have just met." Alanie rumbles to me after she had landed.
"That's so strange. But I do trust you. And that's crazy because you're a dragon!" I laughed shaking my head.
Alanie nodded her much larger head. "Yes."
I sat on a rock in front of Alanie. I had some questions and I thought Alanie could help me. "Are their other dragons?"
Alanie laid down; she wiggled until she was folded up much like the little barn cat did. "Yes. There are many others. All over the world. Some live in packs, others live by themselves, like me."
I nodded. "What does the Dragoness do? How old are you? How old can dragons get?" I rambled off some questions before stopping myself, blushing.
"I am 613. The oldest dragon I know is close to a thousand. 966 I believe is what he decided." She shook her head at the older dragon's ridiculousness. "The Dragoness protects the dragons. She helps guide them and keep them hidden from humans, aside from herself. She gets to know all the dragons, and all the dragons are informed of the newest Dragoness. However, there hasn't been a Dragoness for almost two centuries. I believe something very bad is going to happen."
