Jade’s POV
We walked back down the beach to our houses and then once we walked up the path we stopped. The sun was almost down. I looked out at the beach. It looked gorgeous, just like back in Cali.. well almost. I looked back at Justin who was looking at me. “Well thanks for today, I had a good time” I said “Anytime” he said smiling down to me “It was fun” He said. “Well goodbye, see you tomorrow maybe?” I asked. “Yeah! Have a goodnight Jade.”
I walked up to my house smiling. I loved the way he said my name. I walk into the house to see my dad standing there in the kitchen. “Hi dad” I said feeling happy. “Where were you?” He said not sounding pleased. “I went to get something to eat with the guy next door” I said. He sighed heavily. “How did it go finding a job?” I asked. “I got lucky.” I start tomorrow.” “Wow, that was fast” I said surprised. “Yeah well I explained the situation we’re in” “About mom?!” I asked in shock. “No. it’s nobody’s business. Just that we don’t have much money, so I’m gonna be working a lot.” He said not happy. “Well I can get a job too and help?” “No, no, it’s your final year of high school and you need to do well, you can’t afford fucking up, well I can’t afford it” he said. “Yes sir” I said. I could tell he was getting angry, so I quickly went upstairs.
I sat on my bed and pulled out my phone. I didn’t have any texts or anything. Did no one miss me? I texted one of my friends, Ashley back home.
Me: Hey girl
Hopefully things won’t change between us, considering I’m on the other side of the country. I’ve been friends with her forever. It’s weird being apart from her, but I knew I had to get used to it. I instantly felt my phone vibrate. It was her.
Ashley: Hey! How’s SC??
I frowned just at the thought of being here.
Me: It’s not home
Was all I said.
Ashley: L I wish you didn’t have to leave
Me: Me too.
Ashley: Hang in there Jade
I didn’t text back, I didn’t want to make her sad. I was already sad for the both of us. The sun was halfway set, just over the water. I opened my window and climbed over the side onto the roof, I climbed up and watched the sunset. I’ve always wanted to be able to sit on my roof, that’s one thing I didn’t have, although I had a balcony. Oh well, this is still pretty cool.
Justin’s POV
I watched as she made her way up her deck and into her house. I did the same and as I got inside I saw my mom grinning at me. “What?” I asked. “Someone’s got a cruuuush” she sang. “What?! Mom stop” I said trying not to blush. I went straight to my room and looked out my window to see a beautiful sunset. Then I look over to see her on her roof, with the wind in her hair. She was as stunning as the sunset. After staring at her for a while I realized it was a bit creepy. Romantic? Or creepy? I laid down on my bed and stared at my ceiling. Damn maybe my mom is right.. for once
