"There's a rumor going around that you've made a wager with Class E," Gakushu blandly stated as his gaze swept the group known as the Virtuosos. His purple eyes contained no trace of complaining or irritation. His eyes were as still as a lake, showing only perfect calmness to the group.
It was almost unsettling.
"The class which takes the top spot in more subjects can order the other class to do what they like, right?" he rhetorically asked, his smile as amiable as ever as he reiterated the words previously reported to him.
Silence settled, one could almost hear a pin drop for the A-class student didn't dare to utter a word or breathe too loudly, afraid of disturbing the blond and wake up the demon that slept deep in his soul.
Seo— perhaps feeling the most responsible, or because he had the most leadership out of the four, took a step. He opened his mouth, trying to justify their actions. Because it was a fact, A-class didn't need to stoop so low as to bet on the midterms' results with a group of ants. It was unbefitting. It gave E-class too much face.
They were the Sun, E-class was the insects below. Why bother with them?
Why give them the attention they weren't worthy of?
Thinking back on their action and words, Seo and the others could say that they spoke without thinking. They were muddle-headed, and the fact that E-class was responsible for this momentary confusion probably was the most embarrassing thing— more so than when the group of insects dared to threaten them with pens and rulers.
"S-sorry Asano, I thought it was a pointless bet," Seo difficulty began. The stutter in his voice obvious. His palms were clammy, and sweat ran down his spine as he tried to save his neck in front of the strawberry blond head.
SAVE HIS NECK, because it was a fact. Even if it wasn't Death that Gakushu delivered, it wasn't far from it. If Kunugigaoka was Headmaster Asano's Kingdom, then Gakushu was the Prime Minister.
His words weren't law, but who was there to refute his authority?
Both teachers and students ate in the palm of his hand while parents happily sent him offerings and gifts to cater to him and earn his favors. What Virtuoso? What Student Assembly Chairman? Next to the Grand Asano Gakushu, Tomoya Seo was nothing.
