Mitsukuni stared at ranking with some satisfaction. Back to the first place! He grinned, Reiko sat on his lap as he kept the paper sheet with his results in his hand. Their homeroom teacher was giving out everyone's results, and compared to the last midterms, those were considerably better. On 3-A's side, at least.
He didn't know how it went in Karma's class, but judging from the way most of 3-A climbed the rankings, it shouldn't be too merry. He felt slightly worried for Karma, wondering if his results got worst since the last midterms, but after noticing that none of the top students grabbed the third spot, he heaved a relieved sigh.
Karma was back in third place, with Gakushu taking second place, the three childhood friends staged the top of the rankings! It called for a celebration, Mitsukuni mused with a grin. He folded his result card and slipped it in his bag before giving Sweets a tight squeeze.
"I didn't think you'd be that happy about getting your throne back, Mitsukuni," Gakushu teased with a sly smirk on his lips, a teasing light in his purple-colored eyes. He too folded the card and stored it away. His fingers drummed against the desk, seemingly uncaring, but Mitsukuni could see the slightly relieved air around the blond.
He didn't think Gakushu was so tense about 3-E's results, and it made Mitsukuni slightly worried. He didn't like how Gakushu seemed to spiral into a need for more, and more power, this power-hungry type of behavior didn't fit his friend. He hoped it was only a phase, like puberty, something he would grow out of soon enough.
Mitsukuni sighed, he wanted to ask someone for advice, but Takashi although he was a great listener, he wasn't a big talker. And Kyoya was out of reach at the moment. Mitsukuni didn't know the details, but the raven-haired underground surgeon flew back to his main laboratory. Supposedly, he was about to reach a breakthrough in his newly started researches and needed some well-equipped facility. The room allocated to him in the 3-E prefabricated was far from enough. Though he'd probably be back before he knew it.
"Why so gloomy, Mitsukuni?" Gakushu asked as he stood before the strawberry blond's desk. His school bag slung over his shoulder and a comfortable smile on his face, he leaned his weight on his right arm as his hand rested atop the wooden desk. "You're not happy anymore?" he curiously asked with a slight tilt of his head.
Mitsukuni carelessly nodded his head as he stood up, keeping Reiko in a tight grip. "I dunno, suddenly sad," he giggled with a grin plastered over his face. He picked his bag up and slung it over his shoulder, adjusting the strap of his bag so that it wouldn't fall off, he looked up at his childhood friend.
"'S that so?" Gakushu asked, clearly unconvinced. Looking at Mitsukuni's face, he wasn't about to tell the truth. What's more, Gakushu was in too much of a good mood to care a plummet his mood. He would ask later if Mitsukuni hadn't solved his problem yet.
