as the weather began warming up,
it was time for dresses
and renesmee knew that -
so that was why she had put on
one of her favourite ones
for her upcoming date with jacob.

she pushed back
her hair and followed
the sounds of the piano,
where her dad had slouched,
working on a piece.

"hey dad," she smiled.
ever since she had quit
social media,
she had focused
not only on herself,
but on her relationships
with people
around her.
sure, she would still take photos,
but this time
with one of her family's old cameras
and then she would put them
in the family scrapbooks
and albums.
no more sharing
everything online.
there was no need to.

edward didn't have
to invite her to join him,
renesmee knew herself
when she was needed
to help him get inspired
to make music.

whenever she played,
it was magical.
she was a natural.

oh, how she missed
playing together
with her father!

and so they played
until the late afternoon,
when it was time
for the long-awaited date.

the tasty ice cream,
the warm weather,
the smell of sea,
the smiling faces
of the children
and their parents...
those were some of
the little things
that were making life
worth living.

if a month ago,
renesmee had done
something drastic,
she wouldn't feel
the happiness
or the sun rays on her skin,
making it glow slightly,
as if her body wanted to show
how much better
she was feeling
mentally
and
physically.

jacob, next to her,
had licked all of his ice cream,
when he offered to take her
to the park nearby
to play with her
as if she was a child again.
he wished
they had grown up together
instead of watching her
grow up from a baby
to a young lady.
alas, he couldn't change
the circumstances.
he could create memories instead.

and so he did:

with that, he faced her again.
he gently stroked her face,
the soft smile never leaving his lips:
"you are stronger than them.
you have been doing great
and i won't let anybody
tell you otherwise."

renesmee wanted to cry
and smile at the same time,
feeling loved,
appreciated,
wanted:
"i would do the same
for you."

and with that,
they snapped
yet another photo,
but this time
of their first kiss.
and no,
this photo was
n o t
going to be
online.
because not everything had to be.
