Jina:
"Did you feel that," I asked in wonder.
"Feel what?" He says searching my face as if I must know the answer to some profound question.
"Did you see the flash of light?" I feel suddenly scared.
"I did, must be a storm coming," Min Yoongi says glancing up at the darkening sky.
"Who are you, exactly?" I sense something strange and I am bewildered. The guy standing before me shows little resemblance to the dark angel I think I saw.
"I'm the guy you invited to eat pizza," he answers with a confused expression.
"What's wrong Jina?"
"Nothing. I just thought I saw something."
"Won't you tell me?" he says and I shrug not wanting to be ridiculous. "Any pets that need saving, dragons that need slaying? No?"
I had to laugh. I knew I was being silly. "It's nothing, my faithful, brave knight. My heart just skipped a beat when I saw your chiseled jaw and sinewy muscles. Must be the hunger in my heart. Or maybe, I just need pizza."
I scrutinized him as he ate, fantasizing about this delightful dark angel. I want to know more about him. He's even cute when he eats. For the first time, I notice a little bit of blue paint on the edge of his pale wrist. I imagine him as a struggling artist painting alone in his room, his art full of the darkness in his soul.
Could this be true, or is it all coming from my imagination? As long as I'm imagining, it might as well be this. I don't need to be afraid. Not all darkness is bad.
As the night went on I learned that he was a pianist since he was a small child. He lives for music he says.
"I'd love to hear you play," I said sounding impressed by his abilities.
"Sure, but I'm not a famous pianist that plays at grand halls. I teach young kids how to play. That's how I make money," he clarified.
"They let you near children."
"What's that supposed to mean," he says pretending to be insulted.
"Nothing, don't they all fall in love with you." I laughed nervously fiddling with the now empty glass of wine. I feel the soothing elixir warm my insides helping me relax.
"What?" Yoongi says with a frazzled brow.
I wave my glass around as I speak a little too freely. "You're handsome Yoongi. I bet they all stare up at you as your long elegant fingers dance on the keys."
"You're the one that stares at me, and I can't understand why."
"You intrigue me Yoongi, that's all. I don't know anyone like you. Would you like some more wine?"
I leaned forward to fill his glass and then watched as he took a sip from his glass. His tongue glided over his plump lower lip seductively.
"What do you want to know?"
"Why are you here?" I asked.
"What? Like in your living room or in the world? I won't say cause you invited me cause that would be annoying," he stops to think. "I'm waiting for something or someone."
"That's vague," I answer, "what do you want to accomplish?"
"I want to be known as a painter but what I'm really searching for is to love and be loved. Isn't it what we all want?"
"Yes," I smiled, "I have that."
"You do?"
"Yoongi!" I say insulted.
"Well, where?"
"He will be here soon. I think you should go actually."
"Okay. Don't be mad at me. I want us to be friends," he says.
"Sure," I say with a smile plastered on my red face.
"I want to know you better. I already know I like you."
"Friends then. You know, I'd love to see you play," I ask expectantly.
"Come to my place tomorrow. I'll show you my studio. It's beautiful in the morning light. Come early around 9, maybe? I'll make sure you won't regret it."
"Okay, since I'm off tomorrow. I would love to."
"Great. Don't eat. I'll make you breakfast," he adds.
"Sounds good."
"Thanks for the pizza. I'm sorry I ate most of it. I sometimes forget to eat," Yoongi says.
We both look up as Jaden walks in looking at us. I get up quickly and hug him. His face looks briefly sad like he's disappointed, in me or himself, I don't know.
Yoongi also gets up and offers him his hand. "Nice to see you, Jaden. Jina was so kind to invite me to share her pizza."
Jaden smiles kindly, "Why don't you stay and have a beer?"
"Thanks but I need to get going. I have an important date tomorrow morning and I need to get ready."
"Okay bye then."
"Bye Jina, this was fun."
I smiled and waved at my new friend.
