NARRATIVE
Jina cried in his arms. She knew it was Yoongi that had saved her. Her beloved with a heart of gold. She stared up at his sweet eyes full of pain asking her, "Baby, did Jaden do this to you?"
Jina nodded. She was full of despair knowing she had been selfish and unwise. "I just wanted to be loved," she whispered.
"What happened? Did you tell him about us?"
"I threatened to leave and he got angry and hit me. He was instantly sorry, so I was able to convince him I would stay with him. It was around the time I leave to go to school so I got my school bag and left. I was afraid to go to you cause he had threatened to kill you if I did, so I went to a friend's house and asked her not to tell anyone where I was. I was thinking of leaving town and just disappearing, but I got a text from Mia saying she talked to Jaden and he had moved out. She said I could come back and get my things so I could say with her. I felt hopeful for once leaving behind the bitterness of what happened. I waited a while too scared to go back but I finally convinced myself I needed to move on."
"You are too brave for your own good sometimes."
"I went back. It was a mistake," Jina sobbed. "Molly was shaking with fear in a corner standing in his own piss. Jaden was on the floor drunk looking at my picture. I was instantly shocked seeing his pain but being helpless to take it away."
"Molly ran when he saw me. The pup was out the door and I should have followed him, but I felt sorry for Jaden. I did this to him."
"No Jina, he's an abuser. You should have left him a long time ago."
Tears pooled in her eyes and she looked so vulnerable in the hospital bed. He reached for her to hug her when suddenly they both felt the jolt. In his mind, Yoongi saw her hurt in a hospital bed her head covered in bandages, but he knew it was not this Jina, but one from his past.
Yoongi tilted his head trying to understand. Did she see it too? Was she seeing another version of me?
Jina closed her eyes tightly trying not to see the pain before her. This time she did not see the black wings of the demon inside but instead witnessed Yoongi's pain, raw and personal for her to see. The taste of ecstasy he had given her fresh in her mind and she would do it all over again just to have it.
Yoongi knew it was his job to save her. He had begged God to give him another chance. He had been unsuccessful in the past. Watching her as she died in a previous life. This is the pain she saw now. Would he be able to let go now that he had succeeded? Would he have to leave her? No, life could not be this cruel. Their souls were tied in this life and the next.
"Jina, what did you see," he asked.
She looked at him with terror in her eyes, trapped in the bitter walls of her making. "I saw you, but not how you look now. You were covered in blood. Yoongi, did you kill him? Did you kill Jaden?" The painful words ripped through her throat willing him to deny the evidence before her.
"No Jina, I didn't hurt him. Not this time. I swear."
"Where is he Yoongi?"
"I don't know."
"Please find him," she begged, "I think he will try to kill himself. Please Yoongi, do it for me."
"I will. I would do anything for you. I love you!"
"Go now, before it's too late, please!"
Yoongi ran out of the hospital into the night. The moonlight showing him the way back to Jina's apartment. It's the only place he could think of to find Jaden. He hated him for hurting Jina, but it was her wish for Yoongi to save him so he would try his hardest to find him in time.
Yoongi looked up at the moon trying to find answers and when he did he saw a silhouette of a man standing on the roof of the building. His eyes went wide with terror. It must be Jaden waiting for the courage to jump and end his torment.
Yoongi called out, "Jaden no!" but it was too late. Not conscious of what he was doing, Yoongi opened his wings and lifted up in the air to meet the falling boy with open arms. Like an angel from heaven sent to save him, he had slowed time making it possible. The dark wings wide and flapping bringing them both down safely. Yoongi laid him down gently on the ground, his heart pounding not understanding what he had just done. The wish to save him and stop his fall had succeeded. He thought he must be going crazy and had just imagined it but Jaden laid at his feet fainted but still alive. He knelt next to him to feel his pulse and found it.
Jaden slowly opened his eyes to see the angel before him with glistening white wings in the moonlight.
The angel was crying for he knew he now had to return to heaven. His father calling to him and he must obey this time. He cannot risk losing his soul again and being an empty shell of a man for any demon to possess and hurt those he loves.
